I think 90 days is fair - given the current load and process. I was getting perturbed when it was getting close, but they finished on the 89th day. If 90 had hit, I intended to write my representative. I had already started drafting the letter.
I hope in the next legislative session our lawmakers change this. I find it troublesome than a non-resident of Utah can get a license faster than a resident of the state of Texas.

Re: July '08 Applications
It's DONE! Status changed this morning!
Took exactly 90 days from day of receipt by DPS.
When I called last Thursday, it was still waiting on the backgrounds to complete.
Question: should I stop carrying in my car, until the plastic arrives? I'm thinking this information will be in the LEO's database if they run my license, but I won't have plastic to back up the weapon.

Don't fret too much. I mailed mine the same day as you and they still don't have the background checks done (I called yesterday).jee wrote:Got a call yesterday afternoon from Simone and she said plastic was being printed. She also said it is takeing 10 or 15 days to print.
I've lived in Dallas County for the past 30 years. 4 years was college, 24.5 years working (I now work in Collin County) I have zero arrests and the only run in with the law is two speeding tickets in all those years, and one ticket for an expired inspection and the last one of those was over 8 years ago. This stinks!
I'm getting to the point of contacting my representative, who happens to chair the law enforcement committee.
