My instinct is that it's limited to that employee who, for whatever reason, made a bonehead mistake during a busy Christmas shopping day.

Two weeks ago I was at a well known store looking at the XDm 9mm. The clerk handed me the gun and then realized that the trigger lock was missing, and went to retrieve one. I immediately pulled the slide and checked the chamber. The clerk said 'don't worry, it's not loaded' - which I found amazing. I replied 'I check every gun every time' which he then instantly realized was what he should have done as well.

Didn't buy it there.
