I thought I was the last, it should be comming soon. As other on here have suggested, you may want contact your reps to see if they can put some pressure in the right area to get you processed.
Good luck!
just checked.
Application Completed - license issued or certificate active

I can't believe the approval process took so long but I am glad it is finally over now just have to wait on the mailman.
Now how long does it take to get mail from Austin to Magnolia?
Anyway today is a great day!!!

Re: June Applicants
I received a call from Heather yesterday, she said they were waiting on one additional item from the background checks and said she would try to get it expedited. I was in the middle of a meeting and couldn't ask any additional questions. She said she couldn't give me a hard date and mentioned the hurricane and the amount of applications being processed was the holdup. She said would be giving me a call when everything was completed and the license was issued.
I was beginning to think I was going to set a new processing record, still may, but who knows. Hopefully not much longer.

Re: June Applicants
jamey wrote:I finally received my plastic today!
Hopefully I was one of the last remaining June applicants. I waited until 111 days after DPS received my application before I bothered contacting DPS to inquire about my status. Unfortunately, the person handling my application never returned any of my phone calls, even though I left messages every 3rd day for about 10 days. After growing extremely frustrated with DPS for not returning a single call even though I waited almost 4 months to contact them, I finally resorted to sending out emails to my state rep, senator, and the governor.
My state rep (Beverly Woolley) contacted DPS on my behalf and found out for me that my delay was caused by Harris county. Her office got my application moving through Harris county and I received my plastic 6 days after I initially sent out my frustrated emails.
It's obvious to me from reading these forums that Harris county is dragging their feet on background checks, and anyone who still has their application "pending" who applied in June or earlier should contact their state reps, senators, and even the governor's office (who totally dismissed me when I called them, BTW, unlike others who have reported positive experiences with the governor's office) and politely see if they can get some help on their applications. I have addresses in Harris county and Galveston county, and both of those DPS offices as well as the county courthouses are fully up and running, so there are no more Hurricane Ike excuses. There's something to be said for waiting patiently, but when so many people are getting their plastic in double-digit days, those of us that waited longer than 100 days need to be cleared out of the system.
[deep breath] Okay, I'm better now. I'm happy, but it's a little bitter-sweet knowing that some people who applied even before me are still waiting. To them I say: dont' be shy. Call, email, and write your elected officials and make your voice be heard. It worked quickly for me and I only used that as a last resort when DPS refused to return any phone calls.
Keep the faith, June applicants, your time is almost up.
Jamey
app. accepted at DPS: 06/24/08
1st phone call to DPS: 10/13/08
emails to state reps: 10/23/08
call back from DPS: 10/24/08
plastic received: 10/29/08
I share in your frustration. I emailed my reps and the governor yesterday, didn’t want to have to resort to that but today make 125 days since my application arrived in Austin. I have been trying to sit back and wait patiently but more than twice the allotted time allowed by law is a bit ridiculous. At least contacting my reps at this point I don't think I am trying to "cut in line". Anyway at this stage I'm used to the wait but hopefully not much longer; it's turning into frustration with the broken system.

Re: June Applicants
No you're not the only one left in here, I'm with you. I emailed through the chl email address early last week, got a reply back almost immediately (which makes it suspect...IMO) that they were waiting on my background checks to be completed. I'm a couple of weekes behind your application timeline. I guess we'll just hurry up a wait some more. Good luck!BigD_htl wrote:dps received my packet on June 12

Re: June Applicants
Bump
I was on vacation when Ike came through, luckily after getting back home the damage was confined to only trees being down. Hope everyone and their families in the path of Ike are doing well. I've been super busy with work and heven't been able to get on much to see what has been going on here on the board. I did get my mail upon returning, there was an envelope from you know who, it was my PIN. I only let myself check once a day.
Has anyone from the June group received their plastic yet? Seems from what I read, the wait times have not changed.

Re: June Applicants
I was dicharged in 1994, my DD 214 only goes to block 22. I guess the form has been updated since then.lhdz12 wrote:My DD 214 states "Honorable Discharge", it's on line 24. Character of Service!!!!!Well just checked the mail and I received a copy of my DD 214 with a post it note on it to provide documents stating I had been hoorably discharged. Never seen a dis-honorable discharge before but I'm sure if thats the case it would be a diferent DD 214, or it would be noted on it somewhere.
