Re: DPS Processing Times

NEW OR RENEWAL: 2nd renewal
NAME: brianko
DATE A COMPLETE APPLICATION RECEIVED BY DPS: 7/31/08 (via registered mail, return receipt)
DATE LICENSE WAS RECEIVED: 10/15/08
TOTAL NUMBER OF DAYS IN PROCESSING: 77
DID YOU RECEIVE A LETTER FROM DPS REGARDING A DELAY: Yes; fingerprints were rejected
DID YOU CAUSE ANY DELAY IN PROCESSING. IF YES, EXPLAIN: No; FAST fingerprint card returned within week of rejection letter
IF DPS GAVE YOU A VERBAL EXPLANATION (EXCUSE) FOR ANY DELAY, PLEASE EXPLAIN: No explanation given during at least three conversations with three different individuals
WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION LATER: Yes

Thanks to Joe Driver's office (who also happens to be the chair of the Law Enforcement Committee), my CHL was received within a week of notifying Mr. Driver's office. It shouldn't have taken a state legislator's intervention to receive my CHL that had obviously been sitting on someone's desk. How do I know this? Because I received an old-style license, well after the new-style licenses were being issued and received.
