It's more like a couple of guys sitting around and visiting and it's been my experience that this just doesn't work well. I can't just go through the motions and hand out certificates; I want my students to leave any of my classes feeling like they really learned both the law and how things work in the real world. (I'm not saying you are suggesting otherwise.)
We have plenty of people here that want to take the Utah class, so I'll try to get it on the schedule in the next 2 weeks. It may have to be on a week night because of scheduling, but I'll try to make it a Friday.
Chas.
Is there any update on scheduling for a class?

Re: Utah CFP - Houston?
I also thought of getting the Florida license. I believe the Texas proficiency can be used for the training requirement, but the Florida License is $107 initial and renewal. Utah is a little more up front because of the class, but the renewal is only $10 with no class requirement.Emmett wrote:I don't know if any one has thought about the Florida License. I carry on the Florida License, if you are Ex Military, all you have to do is send them a copy of your DD214 along with your application and Fingerprint card, you are not required to have any class as long as you are Ex Military. So, for me it was a lot cheaper then the Texas, I didn't have to pay extra for the class, and it is good for 5 years.
Just another idea for everyone that has not thought about it.

Re: Utah CFP - Houston?
You can legally carry in TX with a Utah CFP. But, the Texas license gets you alot more states mainly because some states don't honor non-resident licenses.CainA wrote: Ok, now you knew this was coming right?
Why bother getting a Texas CHL then? I'm already committed($$$) so...not that it matters.

Here is a great website to see what getting the different states CHL will get you in recriprocity. http://www.carryconcealed.net/legal/reciprocity.php
Personally I would like to get the Utah CFP because I would like to add Ohio to my license (when it comes )

Re: Utah CFP - Houston?
That is not the only reason to get a Utah CFP. A Utah permit will also add Washington, Nevada, and Ohio to the states where you are leagally allowed to carry. Also the cost is much less $65 Initial, $10 Renewal.CainA wrote:Can you get a Utah license faster than you can get a Texas one? I'm supposing so or there wouldn't be so must interest.

Re: Utah CFP - Houston?
Charles has been asking if there is enough interest in the Houston area to warrent a class. If we all bug him enough I am sure he would put one on the schedule. You can just PM him since he a moderator of this forum.
