Re: LCP Recall
There was a story on one of the Forums about an LCP being caught on a chair as the guy stood up and it discharged when it hit the floor of the restaurant. Do not remember now which Forum it was on, but I'll do some research to see if I can find it again.flb_78 wrote:has anyone actually heard of an LCP going off because of a drop? I have not.
Ive read a couple stories where 1911's have gone off from a simple drop though.
This recall does not bother me. Ill send it in and get the free mag and fluff n' buff.

Re: LCP Recall
I like it with the mag extension, gives a much better grip. Even if you buy it yourself, get one.

Re: LCP Recall
My guess is the firing pin has enough weight to inertia-fire. Not sure how this could get past Ruger's design team?03Lightningrocks wrote:how in the world does it fire without pulling the trigger back to engage the hammer mechanism.

Re: LCP Recall
They didn't say, but they did say they'd make up the parts and send shipping information when they're ready. So it sounds like the repair will be pretty quick.
In the mean time, they warn against carrying with a loaded chamber.

LCP Recall
Just got an email recalling my LCP. Seems that if you drop the gun with a cartridge in the chamber, it could fire. DUHHHH..........
Anyway, they claim they'll fix the concern and do some other updates PLUS give me a new magazine with the finger extension for my troubles.
Serial number effected is 370-XXXXX. If you have one that starts with 371, you're fine or if there is some type of diamond near the hammer???
Here's the link to check your LCP and to enroll in the recall...
