Re: Instructor Said I'm Illegal With CT LTC
Other than the address on the LTC, is there any difference between resident and non-resident licenses? In other words, is it necessary and did they switch it to a non-resident license when they changed the address to your Texas address? One would think they did. The Connecticut LTC I have now, with...

Re: Instructor Said I'm Illegal With CT LTC
Since you saw Charles Cotton's response above, he can speak authoritatively as he is the owner of this site and responsible for most of our gun friendly laws (as well as responsible for stopping unfriendly ones). His comment is worth more than all ours combined. ;-) Thanks, Ron. Good to know. And t...

Re: Instructor Said I'm Illegal With CT LTC
I'd rather not. It's the closest range to my house and I wouldn't want to become persona non grata there.tbrown wrote: Can you tell us the name of the range so people can avoid incredibly ignorant instructors.

Re: Instructor Said I'm Illegal With CT LTC
Thanks for the input everyone. A quick tally of the responses so far shows differing opinions. 2 say it's okay for me as a Texas resident to carry with a Connecticut LTC, 1 says it is not. If I throw in the advice from the range instructor that it's not, that brings the score to 2 to 2 ! So it's a 5...

Instructor Said I'm Illegal With CT LTC
Recently at my local gun range I had a conversation with their Certified Instructor. He told me that when I became a Texas resident 10 years ago, and began renewing my Connecticut LTC with my Texas address on it, the State of Texas stopped honoring it, and I would be subject to arrest if I carry wit...

Re: Can A Landlord Do This?
Just to give an update on this, a few weeks ago I emailed my Texas state representative and state senator from their websites about the need for legislation to be introduced in the next session to protect Texas gun owners who rent their homes and gave the Minnesota statute as an example. I also put ...

Re: Can A Landlord Do This?
The ideal thing for me to do would be to move to a "gun-friendly" apartment complex as some here have suggested. The problem with that is that I'm an older gent with several physical problems that cause me to tire very quickly and the stress of a move to a new place would definitely take i...

Re: Can A Landlord Do This?
To the OP...I'm surprised someone didn't mention this. If you just act as if nothing has changed the probability is extremely high that whoever owns the property now will not own it at some time in the future. Owning apartments is like gambling - far more losers than winners. Normally I'd agree wit...

Re: Can A Landlord Do This?
I wouldnt be surprised if the apartment owner/management are gun owners themselves. I have been a gun owner all my life & fully embrace the constitutional rights for all; but if I owned an apartment complex, I too would send a letter prohibiting firearm possession on the property. Though not le...

Re: I need an udate on Corps lakes
Here's a question. If I'm carrying and driving on a bridge that crosses over a Corps lake, am I in violation?

Re: Can A Landlord Do This?
I know I said I would not be posting on this topic again, but I found out something that has me fuming, so I'm going to vent here! Hope y'all don't mind. The landlord who bought this Texas rental property, and is imposing this gun ban, is based in Minnesota. Just for the hell of it I looked up Minne...

Re: Can A Landlord Do This?
My dad lives in a senior housing apartment complex. Its one of those automatic gated places, run by some out-of-state company (wasn't when he moved in some time back). They're lucky to get maintenance people to come around, but I can easily see some snooping going on if the resident is away. I can ...

Re: Can A Landlord Do This?
The funniest/saddest part about this is that this landlord, according to their rules list, is placing legitimate gun owners in the same eviction category as the following: -Those who do not pay their rent -Those who damage the rental property -Those who use, buy or sell illegal drugs -Those who main...

Re: Can A Landlord Do This?
For this out-of-state landlord this could turn out to be a case of "be careful of what you ask for, you just might get it." This being Texas, and based on my knowledge of quite a few of my fellow tenants, I'd make a conservative estimate that 1/3 of the people who rent here have a gun in t...

Re: Can A Landlord Do This?
Check your lease. Does it have a clause substantially similar to the following? COMMUNITY POLICIES OR RULES. You and all guests and occupants must comply with any written apartment rules and community policies, including instructions for care of our property. Our rules are considered part of this L...
