I said similar earlier in this thread. The sad part is how the hysteria has affected the stock market. People are listening to the hype and fighting over stupid things like toilet paper. Yes, people will die but it will still be less than will die by other contagious diseases and it’s pretty much the same people who could die from the flu. Even doctors are saying it’s being overblown (including liberal ones). If you are really worried then go talk to your doctor about it, wash your hands, don’t touch your mouth or nose with dirty hands and stay away from places where you are likely to get it.

This is being overblown worldwide and it will effect our economy short term due to that. It’s not the end of the world (that will be much worse),

What is funny is that people allow the media hype to motivate them. I’m not telling anybody to not prepare, I’m telling people they are allowing hysteria to drive their actions. While numbers from governments that lie all the time and hide bad news are all over the place, it's noteworthy that China shut down a huge portion of their economically critical industrial base for over a month and has been incinerating far more bodies than the deaths they've been reporting. It's also noteworthy that medical personnel are wearing high level biohazard suits while treating patients. They don't do that for our seasonal flu.

I agree that panic is both unwarranted and unhelpful. However, preparedness to remain isolated from the public for up to 90 days in the event the virus hits hard in your area would be a really good idea - sorta like carrying a gun in case you might need it.

I agree with your statements, I’m sure the numbers are not correct but I weigh the odds. Have I ever been a victim of crime? A family member was in my presence and was so I say yes. Have my family members? Yes, multiple times. Have I ever had the flu? Nope. Yet 40-60k people die in the US every year from the flu yet I never get a flu shot.

I agree to have supplies to get by for 2 or more months but I have that already in hurricane supplies as anyone close to the gulf should. I also have a remote location I can go to away from the population if needed (with nearly unlimited water supply). I’ve thought things out and can survive if things ever go bad - I just don’t think Covid 19 will cause that. But, I’ve also been wrong a few times over the years too so we will see.

10-15 thousand Americans have died of the flu this season (as stated my doctors on XM’s Dr. Radio today) but nobody’s panicking over that. This is hype that won’t affect most healthy people but it’s a good story to get people paying attention to the news. If you have a weak immune system or are elderly it can be deadly but to the rest there are greater threats.
