Re: A "first" when stopped by DPS last night
All most makes you not want to teach children that the police are their friends. I am an ex State LEO in my other life and my youngest son is a LEO in an East Texas town. I ride out with him ever 45 days. I have never seen the attitude that has been shown here in this thread from any of those fine ...

Re: I want to do business with other CHL's
I run an independent Mercedes Benz and BMW specialty repair shop in Houston. To say we are 2A friendly is a huge understatement. To say we are good mechanics is another. If I can be of assistance to anyone here just let me know. Mike Haven http://www.mphauto.com" onclick="window.open(this....

Re: What does "in printing" mean ( for a new CHL)?
The DPS representative I spoke to many times during my long wait led me to believe that the card was ready long before it was approved. I cant recall the exact discussion, it was not relevant to the issue at the moment. I can assure you they start the clock when your packet is received, not issued, ...

The cards get printed very early in the process. They get ISSUED at the end. I dont think you are at the end yet.

Re: WTB AR .22 Conversion
I had my AR with an old M 261 kit out at the range this past weekend with some noob shooters. Gotta admit its a BLAST on swinging steel with an Aimpoint and a bucket of cheap 22 ammo. Everybody had fun with that gun. The EBR with the bipod and heavy SS barrel did not evoke any requests from the lady...

Re: NRA Life Membership deal back in effect?
I have no intention of lying to save 200 bucks. If it is a program that is in effect , as I thought I read earlier I dont mind taking advantage of it. If its not available to me, as I said, I am prepared to buy in at 500.

Re: Not sure about this...
I have owned a PPK/s for 25 years, and just recently got a PPS. The K is ideal for appendix carry in a light holster. its a dress gun. The PPS is a little bigger, more powerful and lots lighter. Still waiting on a holster for it to see how it carries. Both have been completely reliable so far.

Re: Pocket Carry Redux
I have a question for those that are adept at pocket carry. What kind of clothing do you pocket carry in? Which pocket? I have been trying out a Kahr Pm9 at home, while I wait for the plastic. I have a Galco pocket holster and an HBE leatherworks. IWB. I dont wear a suit or dress pants at all. ever....

Ccabbot what county do you live in? I did the same as you last week, got nice ladies who told me it was being "expedited". But no answer as to when it might be issued. DPS approved me, Harris county is still dragging its .. feet. And DPS wont move ahead until HC does their job. 4 months wa...

Re: ID in the home...
If one is in ones home or on property under ones direct control , there isn't any reason for a CHL correct? One could open carry, conceal whatever right? IANAL but I think that's correct. You would not be guilty of UCW (46.02) if you're carrying on your own property without your CHL in your possess...

The CHL would apply at the property line in my mind. So much for reasonable thinking. I was at my place of business,( I own the business and the b...
