RichardJ,
Congrats after a long wait. You may be the last April applicant to receive his/her license. Are there any others still waiting from April?

Re: April Applications
It may have been Mrs Oldgringo-6 months or more from my recollection. Don't know if there was anyone who waited longer.

ericsu19,
Were you told by anyone at DPS that your card had been mailed?

ABN556,
If you're lucky you could have it by Saturday. If not Saturday, then Tuesday for sure. Kingswood isn't that far from Austin, is it? Congrats-I know it's been a long wait.

jg0351,
Waiting for the U.S. Post Office to deliver your license is one of the hardest parts of this game. My license was supposed to have been mailed on Monday from Austin to El Paso. You wouldn't think it would take that long, would you? And each day that it doesn't arrive you are thinking "Did the Post Office lose the letter?" They do do that unfortunately. Heather told me it could take from 7-10 business days for my license to arrive. I guess they have to say that knowing the Post Office. As for your friend who has been waiting since the 19th, was he told it was actually mailed? Sometimes there is a delay from when the status changes on the website to the time the license is actually mailed.

vscott,
By this time you should have already emailed and written Jan Coffey outlining your situation to get her involved. Have you contacted your State Rep yet? It wouldn't hurt. Sometimes you just have to get proactive with these people.

Re: April Applications
Well, I finally got some good news today. Called in for my weekly status check and spoke to Will. He indicated the background checks had been completed and looked favorable. However, when I asked him how much longer I was looking at he wouldn't hazard a guess. Stated the application had to go thru a final review first and so on...... So does anyone here know how much more time I am looking at based on your experience? Thanks-finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. NOTE: Just after I added this post I received a call from Heather Brummett who advised me my license is being mailed out today. Wonders of wonders-miracles never cease. Now let's see if the USPS can do it's job and get it to me before Thanksgiving. Will keep you posted.

Re: April Applications
I am also still waiting......and waiting......and waiting. Heather was supposed to have some good news for me Friday, August 22nd but I never heard from her despite sending her an email and leaving her a voice mail. I think someone here in my county is playing games with my application delaying it. Anyway I will be breathin' fire when I call Monday morning.

Re: April Applications
Appears April was the one of the worst months for submitting applications. Most I have seen are over 100 days and I still haven't received mine-4 months since I submitted it on April 17th. I hope to hear something by Friday from Heather. My county appears to be one of the worst offenders (El Paso County) for slow return of the county background checks. My application was sitting in someone's stack for 62 days before it was even entered and my fingerprint card was returned to me for my signature. When I talked to Chris today regarding my status I told him they needed to be running 3 shifts to catch up. He told me that they are running 2 shifts. Good news for the new applicants-not good news for me and the other April applicants still waiting. Anyway I am just waiting for Friday and hopefully some good news.

Re: April Applications
Another question: The system shows you are a licensed CHL holder but you don't have your license-lost in mail. You are stopped by LEO's. What do you do?

Re: April Applications
Taurus4007,
Sorry to hear about your troubles actually receiving your license after it already has been issued. Imagine waiting as long as you did and then get slapped in the face with a "lost" license!! Ouch!!! One question: Since your license has been issued do you actually need to have possession of the license to carry? Here's hoping you receive it soon.

Re: April Applications
jmorris,
Join the party-I made the same mistake. However, after I returned the card which was received on July 7th I also saw this same message for 2 weeks. At that point I sent an email and letter to Jan Coffey advising her of this. As a result Heather Brummett who is a supervisor there took possession of my case and got the status up-to-date and got my case rolling. I just received an email from her within the last 15 minutes-she advises everything should be cleared up (background investigation) by August 22nd (or possibly sooner). I would suggest emailing Jan Coffey and faxing her a letter at the same time. Can't hurt.

Re: April Applications
Have you ever spoken with Simone or Heather to determine why your application is taking so long?

ABN556,
Is your application pending results of your County background investigation? Which county is it?
