Re: IDPA Classifier?

There's not going to be a match at PSC in May because it's the same day as the state match in Cresson. But there will be one in June! :hurry:  Yeah, I was looking at the calendar on the PSC site, but the IDPA page confirms what you said, MegaWatt. I guess it'll have be June 28, then. That sho...

IDPA Classifier?

I see there's an IDPA classifier at PSC this weekend (4/26/14). I've never shot IDPA, but it's one of those things I've been meaning to get around to for the last couple of decades. Are these events open to new shooters? Should I sign up?

Re: US Senate race - Texas 2012

Judge: Texas should plan on May 29 primary IMO this is a good thing, gives the non-incumbent candidates more time to get their name out there, and spread their message. IMHO, the redistricting litigation is a Communist plot to prevent conservative Texas from having any say in the Republican Party's...

Re: 4th best president EVER - according to himself

I think there should be a simple test before you can be able to vote. Questions should include very simple things like, "Who has the majority in the House?", "Who has the majority in the Senate?", etc. There's a really good documentary called "Media Malpractice" and at...

Re: How do you handle being farsighted?

Just tilt my head until my gradient bifocals bring the front sight into focus. We're supposed to focus on the front sight, aren't we? Some of my pistols have Crimson Trace Lasergrips, which make it easy to focus on the little red dot. I'm afraid that I need some sort of optics to shoot a r...

Usually, I buy defense ammo at ProDefense on I-45, but I've ordered milsurp ammo over the Internet. Yes, they do require a signature, but if you can't be home during business hours, then you can go to the UPS or Fedex office and sign for it there. I got lucky and was home for lunch the last time I o...

Well, at least the woman admits a right to have a gun for self-defense. That's really amazing for a Democrat.

Not that I really care about Obama's position on the Second. If Ron Paul doesn't get the Republican nomination, I'm going to vote for Dave Barry.

There's been some discussion of sections 9.40 - 9.43 of the Penal Code, but I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Chapter 14 of the Code of Criminal Procedure: Art. 14.01. OFFENSE WITHIN VIEW. (a) A peace officer or any other person [emphasis mine], may, without a warrant, arrest an offender when ...

Aw! That's just Stossel. He's ABC's token conservative/libertarian. You know, they just keep him around to show that everybody who works for ABC isn't a communist. Even Stossel concedes, "OK, it's a good idea to keep guns out of the hands of people who are mentally unstable." So who's goin...

So the magic combination seems to familiarity with firearms and a perceived need to protect oneself. Perhaps what we need is universal military training. All of our young men, as such young women who wished to participate, would at least have the basic familiarity with firearms.
