the reason I'm getting it at best buy is I need to spend just 500$ this year to get the silver premium rewards points thing. I don't really shop at best buy too much but most of my family does and guess who's number they usebdickens wrote:I got one and it is a fantastic camera. Don't get it at Best [?] Buy, though as you can get a better deal on ebay if you are patient. I got a factory reconditioned body for < $500

That being said, remember that if you get really serious into photography, the cost of bodies is relatively inconsequential. The lenses, support system, etc. are where your significant expenses end up being.
Compared to the D5000 is this a better camera? I'm not sure how the model numbers work. The specs make it appear so, but what do you think
The D5000 has the flippable screen which I like. It also is only 2MP less which isn't that big of deal to me.

I'm getting ready to buy but just realized this camera has been out a while. Are their any rumors on when it might be replaced?

Thinking about buying the Nikon D5000... thoughts?
Hey yall,
I'm in the market for a new digital camera and I'm thinking about going with the Nikon D5000 DSLR.
The total price with tax would come to $744 at Best Buy.

Do any of yall have any comments for a guy who's new to photography in general and wants a decent DSLR for under 800? (give or take a hundred)
