Not in Texas.

Some states require registration but not here
For example, the state where the POTUS hails from requires firearm registration.
Technically the firearms are not registered (they are de facto registered) but the FOID (Fire Arms Owners ID) registers the law compliant owners. The FOID is similar to getting a CHL in TX and is needed for any resident to possess ammunition or a firearm in IL.

I moved from IL years ago because firearms ownership is onerous, restrictive and the laws are the "gotcha" type of laws that entrap legal gun owners.
