Technically the firearms are not registered (they are de facto registered) but the FOID (Fire Arms Owners ID) registers the law compliant owners. Some states require registration but not here
I moved from IL years ago because firearms ownership is onerous, restrictive and the laws are the "gotcha" type of laws that entrap legal gun owners.
