Re: Texas resident question.

I spoke with the person giving the class and he recomended taking the class with the Missouri DL, and then within a few days she should go apply for her Texas DL and the entering that number on the TR 100 before sending in the CHL application to the state.

Re: Texas resident question.

LarryH wrote:Assuming she receives the Texas DL before she receives the CHL, she should probably inform the CHL section, because the Texas DL number is included in the info on the CHL.
At that point wouldn't her CHL change from a non resident to a resident? Would it be better to wait until she recieves the CHL and then make the change, or does it matter? Sorry, I'm not sure how the state does things in regards to this (or anything for that matter, just when I think I have them figured out...)

Re: Texas resident question.

Will she need to change anything when she gets a Texas DL?

Re: Texas resident question.

So I take that to mean that she is OK, as long as she intends to be a resident of Texas. It also sounds like maybe there is some sort of fee involved since she currently has a Missouri DL.

Re: Texas resident question. *New Question*

When she went in to get her Texas DL today they told her that they are switching to a new system and that it would take 6-8 weeks to get her new DL. So she decided to hang onto her Missouri DL, I told her that I believe she can take the class with an out of state DL, that she just needs to check the box that says something to the effect of she intends to make Texas her place of residency. Is this correct?

Texas resident question.

How long does one have to be a Texas resident for in order to apply for a Texas CHL. The reason I ask is that my girlfriend moved back to Missouri for three months to help her dad open his new business. She's back now and is getting her TX DL this week. She had one, but got a Missouri DL when she went back because she thought she'd be there longer than three months. Anyway, I am taking my class on the 9th and she wants to take it also. Will she be able to?
