What was it that Pogo said about locating the enemy?mojo84 wrote:I have been thinking a lot about this and went back and read the article. I find it it interesting how it has provided another topic for us bicker with one another about. Here are a couple observations for us all to consider.
1. The article was published on Bloomberg's website.
2. I think most if not all have overlooked a key part, in bold below, of the quote from Wal-Mart's management.I believe this is just another instance of the anti-gun crowd throwing something out there to mislead people and we end up getting all riled up and start bickering amongst ourselves publicly again. They know we will turn on one another at a drop of a hat and they use that to their advantage.“We do try to ensure that people have a licensed firearm,” said Wal-Mart spokesman Brian Nick. “We are giving direction to our store employees to ask for a license as our management sees appropriate.”

AZZMIE wrote:Walmart's right to ask to see your CHL is protected by the first amendment, just as well as your right to refuse to show them your CHL is protected by the first amendment. It goes back to freedom of speech. You have every right to ignore the one asking stupid questions. A good reply would be to give him a pocket sized copy of the U.S. constitution in place of the CHL. You have a CHL. That means you are a law abiding American citizen who is intelligent and of man (or woman) of good moral character. He is a Walmart employee asking to see a document that contains very personal information. That means he is either a dumbass or a thief. Why else would he want to know where you live and have expensive firearms. Please quote me on this one.bmwrdr wrote:They have no right to do so, it takes a law enforcement official.

If you're writing a check for your purchase, they'll likely ask for ID. Are you gonna' tell them that's a secret too?JP171 wrote:to OG and yourself, I don't open carry at all, however if they ask to see my license because they may think I have a weapon I have the right to tell them no, they can certainly tell me I can't go into the store, fine, I will leave but a private citizen demanding my papers is going to be dealt with the same as anyone violating my rights periodjed wrote:You sir, are why there's an increased number of 30.06 signs appearing.JP171 wrote:my answer is no you can't see it, if I have to leave so be it but your not seeing anything you don't have a legal right or requirement to see so (explative)Oldgringo wrote:Judging from some of the acrimonious and sometimes combative posts of late, I would not mind if every OC got asked to show his/her license.
