Re: Fort Worth Zoo Daycare
I wonder if their three signs are a single offense, or a "per sign" compounding factor.

One would have been mine. The guy who wrote the blog post is the same who contacted me for comment since the COFW gave him my contact information.
I can't wait to hear how the whole "We are a daycare" thing goes over with AG's Office.

Re: Fort Worth Zoo Daycare
Only two send to the city?!?!?! Yours and mine?rtschl wrote:According to the Dallas Morning News blog link dated today http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com/ ... 2f3e97a9a8 Fort Worth will not remove the signs:
The article further states:The Fort Worth Zoo has received a couple such complaints, though a city spokeswoman said “there are no immediate plans to remove the current signage.” And it’s likely that more complaints will continue to arrive in the coming months.
Guess the reporter didn't get a copy of my complaint, affidavit and evidence I sent to the AG Wednesday. The complaints at the zoos – privately run, but on city-owned property – were expected. The zoos have pointed to various exceptions that would allow them to bar guns, such as the Fort Worth Zoo’s designation as a child day-care facility.
(It’s unclear if complaints about the Fort Worth Zoo have been sent to the attorney general, though two have been sent to the city.)
I held off in sending to the AG per Charles' recommendation.

That was said "tongue in cheek". I don't ever intend to OC anywhere in town... I don't trust the FWPD to handle it properly.Charles L. Cotton wrote:The media, Lon Burnam, the MOMs and other anti-gunners would have a field day with this! It may be legal but will bring the wrong amount and type of attention to what we are trying to do at the zoo.Charles L. Help us out on the quote for those of us who have shorter memories?Charles L. Cotton wrote:Thanks you! Fort Worth Zoo is especially important in view of former Rep. Lon Burnam's lie he told in a hearing in 2013. No elected official should get away with what he did.rtschl wrote:I just went to the Fort Worth Zoo as this was the fourth business day from my complaint to the city of Fort Worth. I just stopped and faxed my affidavit and documents to the attorney general's office. When I get home in a few minutes I will upload those for Charles.
Chas.
Nevermind... google saves me again:
"Burnam lost his primary bid, but last session he flat out lied about the Zoo owning the property and he treated Rep. Guillen like a dog in the process. I had the contract in my hand and knew he was lying. "

Charles, any advice? I know the Star Telegram is not our friend, anything that we could say that could possibly help our side, or will they just make us look like a nut no matter what we say, and it will be better not to return their calls?
I decided not to go to the Zoo tonight, since I want to see whether or not they comply with the law after opening their doors on the fourth business day of my notice to the City of Fort Worth.
I think that is the best thing. Never pass up an opportunity to keep our mouth shut.
I'd bet that those signs are still up tomorrow... and on Thursday when I go by. They think they are a frigging day care center and are exempt from the law.
See my tag line...

Re: Fort Worth Zoo Daycare
I see that now. Even more clear.
I think most people these days have an email based fax, so all I have to do is send what looks like an email with attachments, and it will spit out all of the pages to the receiver as one big pdf file.

Re: Fort Worth Zoo Daycare
OK, I see how this works... I don't have to have anything notarized to send the warning faxes to the city folks, I'll get that done NOW, then go back Wednesday and then send this in to Paxton.

PERFECT! In one of those "Whereas" it stated the city owns the land, and has dedicated part of it to the Zoo... that will do. Thanks buddy.Glockster wrote:If this helps -- the contract that the city has to run the zoo:AJSully421 wrote:rtschl wrote:AJSully421,

Next question, I am preparing the affidavit... what did you use as proof that the zoo is owned by Fort Worth?

Can you get me the name and fax number that you used? I got pictures today as well. No harm in them getting several of these in the same week.rtschl wrote:I just faxed the 411.209 notification to both the Fort Worth City Manager David Cooke and City Attorney Sarah Fullenwider.
