Re: CHL holder killed by police in Las Vegas at a Costco
Some Costco employee(s) said he was acting crazy and destroying merchandise.03Lightningrocks wrote:So do we know for sure yet if this guy was acting wild in the Costco? Seems the stories abound. Is it confirmed that an employee said he was firing shots?
His girlfriend said he was not.
I haven't seen any reports of what went on inside from any of the other customers. The absence of any such reports makes me think no one really noticed him inside. That makes it hard for me to believe he was really acting all that crazy. Certainly, if he'd fired his pistol inside the store, someone besides a Costco employee would have noticed that. (And it would be easy enough to prove. The bullet went somewhere. There's a shell casing somewhere.) I give NO credence to the report that he fired a shot(s). That's got to be (in my opinion) someone getting their story mixed up OR someone from Costco exaggerating the tale while on the phone with 911 in an attempt to get police there that much quicker.

Re: CHL holder killed by police in Las Vegas at a Costco
I've been thinking the same thing. If the videos showed a guy who appeared to be a danger to anyone, they'd be all over the news.03Lightningrocks wrote: . . .this whole deal is not right, if the cops were innocent in all this, we would be covered in videos showing this guy acting like a fool. My humble opinion is that the cops over reacted and are now scurrying around trying to throw sand over their poo.

I hope not. It may end up being pure luck if we can ever see clearly that he had a gun in his hand or was reaching for his gun from the outside cameras. I'm really hoping that the inside cameras will at least tell us what really happened inside.philip964 wrote:Will we be left only with the employees vs the girlfriend's statements regarding the events that triggered the 911 call?

Re: CHL holder killed by police in Las Vegas at a Costco
There are no guarantees. Who can guarantee that you won't be run over by a car, struck by lightening, or bit by a rattlesnake? I think the odds of those are much greater than the things you're concerned about. Carrying a weapon reduces some dangers while increasing others. I firmly believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, by far. In the end of course, you have to make your own decisions, but I really think you're letting a single, freak incident stir you up more than the situation warrants. I would think that shopping at Costco while carrying concealed is still much safer than driving.baldeagle wrote: . . . who among us can guarantee that we will never be outed no matter how hard we work to prevent it? Who can guarantee that, if you are asked to leave and you immediately comply, that the police won't still be called and the situation won't still escalte as it did in Erik's case? Who can guarantee that, even if you do everything the police ask of you, an office with a different point of view won't interpret your actions as a threat and fire?
Sorry, I don't mean to make light of your concerns. I'm just trying to put them in perspective.

Re: CHL holder killed by police in Las Vegas at a Costco
I haven't read any mention of how many seconds elapsed, just one account from a witness that he didn't have any time to react.

That's my initial take after just reading the first page.Charles L. Cotton wrote:Each of the eye witnesses said he didn't have a gun in his hand and wasn't doing anything that indicated he was going for a gun. The "ear witnesses" heard different things, so there's no reliability there. I hope there is a video of this event. At this point, I don't buy the LEO's stories.
And after reading nine pages, my opinion hasn't changed much.
