Thanks for this information on processing times folks. DPS is doing a fantastic job and it doesn't appear that lowering the state fee has caused a backlog problem.

Your fireworks ticket couldn't have been a felony, so that won't matter. The only taxes Texas cares about are those collected by a Texas taxing authority.
