It must be the Dallas Morning News!! There are only 31 Senators and the last I heard 21 of them signed onto the bill as co-sponsors. With the 2/3 rule in the Senate, that means there are enough co-sponsors to bring the bill to the floor for a vote and more than the simple majority needed to pass it.

The last I heard, Rep. Driver's bill had over 90 co-sponsors in the House, far more than the simple majority to pass it.

The "Castle Doctrine" Bill (SB378) contains lawsuit (actually "liability") protection. It's actually had to sue and win in Texas now, when the use of deadly force was justified. When SB378 passes, it'll be even better.
