If you were merely using GOA as an example, then I misunderstood the thrust of your post and I apologize for ganging up on you about GOA. (Now this is a record, I've had to apologize twice in one thread!)GrayGuy wrote:If you look at my first post you might pickup on the fact that the GOA was used as an EXAMPLE not a RECOMMENDATION. As far as their value as a gun rights organization goes I haven’t got a clue—although many of you DO NOT LIKE them.GrayGuy wrote:The only gun advocate group I see on this site is the NRA. There are others such as GOA, Gun Owners of America, why aren’t their logos show?
I have stated in earlier RE’s that I am a NRA member and spend a good portion of time on their web site. I also make known my feelings about some of their decisions good and bad.
Mike1951 mentions Mr. Cotton served as Executive Director of the TSRA, so why aren’t their logo on the site.
Look, the question simple to answer I would think. It was a question of CURIOSITY NOTHING MORE. This is your site and you are welcomed to run it as you wish. And, if the answer to my question is “I only want NRA logos on this site” or “I can’t find another site I would recommend” then say so. But, please don’t drag me through the mud about the GOA which was used as a EXAMPLE.
I don't include logos of other organizations primarily because of space, but also because I don't want to have to select some for "publication" and reject others. I would surely offend people by doing so as rejecting a request would be perceived and a denouncement of that person's preferred organization. There are a few good gun organizations, but other than the NRA, most have a relatively narrow focus (hunting, competition, collecting, etc.) and none have the same impact on elections and legislation as does the NRA.
For years, the only logo on TexasCHLforum was the NRA, then I added the TSRA logo during the one year I was Executive Director. I did so only because I thought I was pretty much obliged to do so because of my status with the organization. For 25 years I served as pro bono (free) legislative counsel for TSRA and served on the TSRA Legislative Committee for about 8 or 10 years. In spite of being on the TSRA Legislative Committee and serving as Vice-Chairman, I still didn't include the TSRA logo and I obviously didn't have anything against TSRA.
I hope this answers your question. Obviously, even if I posted the logos of other gun organizations, I would not post GOA or NGRA for the reasons I previously listed.
