I carried either a polymer pistol (XD) or a J Frame for years, but switched to a Commander length 1911 about a year ago. I got one because I wanted one. Once I started carrying it, I had an epiphany. Yes it was a bit heavier, but it seemed to carry MUCH better than my XD40 IWB, and it concealed better as well IWB. Plus, I shoot it better. Further, it's cooler looking. It has a big hole in the end of it which means it spits out big bullets. It's made in 'MURICA. Finally, it makes me happy.
