Savage MSR 15 availability?
Hi guys. Been looking at ARs a little more closely after the latest push to ban them seems to have Trump and even the NRA softening on the issue. Long story short, we have acquaintances in law enforcement, and on the topic of "my first AR", the consensus among them was that if we wanted an...

Re: Chilis, Spring Valley rd, Dallas
Well it's true, but the sign doesn't carry the force of law. They're a "restaurant"; they make less than 51% of their revenue from sale of alcohol by the drink for on-premises consumption. Walk in with a gun and no CHL, it's a 3rd degree felony. However, CHLs should be able to walk right i...

Too small, not in Spanish, not enforceable.

Re: open carry
Something about this argument that very few people will do it so let's risk everything for it, seems like it is not very well thought out. There is one issue that is brought up each and every time and the OC crowd refuses to acknowledge the issue and address it. Slapping the issue off as if it is n...

Re: Light triggers on carry guns, why not?
From what I've heard, carrying a modified gun with a light trigger is discouraged largely for liability reasons. If you should end up using that gun, you can bet that the fact that you made the trigger pull lighter/shorter/crisper will be used by the DA to imply that you wanted to be able to shoot a...

Re: When does 'verbal provoication' cross the line?
"Your mother..." = provocation "Give me your money!" = statement of intent As far as a line, there really isn't one. "I'm going to kill you", believe it or not, has ambiguous meaning depending on the situation. Said by your wife after you publicly embarrass her, it's ha...

Re: Effective range of .22 rifle
Short answer: Your average .22 plinker with $15-a-brick ammo can reliably tag a squirrel or rabbit at up to about 125 yards from benchrest if you know what you're doing. Translated to punching paper, that's a grouping of about 1 minute of arc (MOA), or about 2 inches at 100 yards, about 3 at 150. Lo...

Re: SC Rules 5-4 Illegaly obtained evidence OK
Actually, this is a long standing policy of the SCOTUS. It is the good faith exception to the exclusionary rule. Basically if the cop making the arrest had a valid reason to believe he was operating in accordance with the law, and he is operating on this belief in good faith that what he does is le...

Re: Opinions on 45's
If you like your Glock, a G21 full-size slim frame would be great. Also take a look at the S&W M&P .45. There are variants with and without mag safeties, and with and without manual safeties. I'm a Ruger fan myself; I have the P95 9mm, and so I would recommend a P345 if you want a cheaper ye...

Re: What's the proper way to load the +1?
My usual way is, load the magazine fully, rack the first round, then eject, top off and reload. That's the way rounds are loaded when you fire the pistol, so it's logical. Dropping the first round in the chamber, then closing the slide and loading a full mag works perfectly well also, in most cases....

Re: Grey area in justified force/deadly force
I was refreshing my memory the other night on when justified to use force/deadly force and while reading I didn't notice anything mentioning a case of assault. Did I miss something? I mean I can see that people don't want gun fights arising from physical fights, but we all know that assault can tur...

Sorry, I don't understand a few of your things. Using your deductive reasoning I guess the states can form religions and enter your house without a warrant and get a warrant without PC and force you to testify against yourself and force you to house the state guard and censor the news and muzzle yo...

Re: Off Duty LEO and 51%
Charles, after rereading TPC §§46.02 and 46.035 I did not find any indications in those two specific statutes that LEO's are exempt, could you direct me to the relevant laws as I was unaware of this? Thanks! Most of the clauses exepting LEOs are in 46.15, but it's moot anyway. LEOs carry concealed ...

Re: What makes people think this is acceptable?
Actually the new Kirby's have a motor drive that helps with the weight. We have one and it is a good unit. However, I know how much mark-up they have (a friend of mine used to be a district manager for them) so I negotiated mine down to a reasonable price. :thumbs2:  I know; the TechDrive sys...

Re: open carry and chl limitation
I have a question, and I'd like to keep the scope of the discussion more on the side of philosophy and belief rather than practice and tactics. First... CHL is limited. By that I mean the restrictions are HARDER than simply the ability to buy a handgun. Do you favor opening the restriction to basic...
