Re: AMMO. Buying, selling or nothing
Anyone in dire need should make arrangements to be at Academy on a truck day- call the gun counter to get the schedule. They line up outside an hour or so before open time but are pretty reliable in what they get.
Hunting rifle calibers are not as consistent but handgun and 223/556 are like clockwork. You just have to be wiling to stand in line for 45 min to an hour to get a good selection.
I'd call the 2-3 closest stores and ask about 243... to see if thye are getting it regular or even have a little left.

I had no idea there was a Scheels in DFW! Another detour on the way to visit my folks!

Re: AMMO. Buying, selling or nothing
I appreciate your conviction and steadfastness on price! (and I certainly didn't want to imply that your line in the sand was in the wrong place) The narrow good/bad window just made me chuckle this morning.

Re: AMMO. Buying, selling or nothing
I would have bought the fiocchi and left the wwb and aguilla.
Wait, $0.24 is a "great price" and $0.30 is only if you are "hard up" price? That's a pretty narrow window.

Re: AMMO. Buying, selling or nothing
You guys are starting to scare me... I was petty content on ammo/components last week but thinking I may give myself a late B-day present and order some projectiles.

Re: AMMO. Buying, selling or nothing
Imagine a corona virus/riot, drought and then an Obama/or Biden election, sandy hook kind of shortage... then decide if you want to just hunker down and ride out the storm- or continue shooting through such a drought... if the latter, you may need anywhere from 3 months to 3 years worth of ammo on hand, depending on your own comfort level and consumption appetite.PlatinumCouch wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 3:27 pm I have several handguns (different calibers), a couple of rifles and shot guns. I have often thought how much ammunition I should stock for each. I would like to hear what the group thinks is the "target" amount for each type weapon.? Thanks in advance.!!
How much of each do you shoot in an average year?

Re: AMMO. Buying, selling or nothing
I'm holding where I am... having been through shortages before, so i keep enough stock on hand so I can continue to shoot as normal during these shortages. I might buy opportunistically, if a good deal came along but I'm not actively looking for options.
Your friends shouldn't have any heartburn that you have a personal supply of ammo... any of them who think you "owe" them anything are just sour or embarrassed over their own failure to plan... or even keep a minimum stock on hand. It's not like this virus snuck up on us- the whole world was talking about it for a few months before it got here.
