If you really haven't ever shot a 1911, you owe it to yourself to take a test drive... I've yet to see anyone fire a 1911 for the first time and not start grinning ear to ear. On the other hand, I've had a number of people shoot other handguns and find them objectionable from the first shot.

You've got nothing to lose by trying one... you may not like it, but you may find your new favorite.


I need to stay out of these 1911 threads... I found myself looking at another new one this morning! :lol:

Lots of good responses so far, but I'll add that ergonomics are superb.

Personally, I like the combination of trigger, ergonomics, natural pointing and well mannered recoil. Add to that- the single stack design is nice and slim and easy to carry comfortably. And there is an aftermarket part or accessory to address almost any conceivable cosmetic or functional concern.

Hard to put it all into words... but for some, there is just no substitute to a nice 1911. And to others- they could take it or leave it. ...lol
