I felt safe voting third party in Texas. Since it was not close here, I felt my vote would do much more good going for someone that actually supports gun rights and small government ideals.

So, no, I didn't buy in to that argument. If I were in Florida or Ohio it might have been different, but probably not. Besides, it's better, in my opinion, for the Republicans to lose and then learn from this election. Maybe next time they can find a pro-gun candidate, perhaps even one who believes in smaller government. Then maybe there could be a real debate with the Democrats over the direction we want to take our country.

Honestly, though, if McCain hadn't been a proponent of banning private firearm sales and throwing away the employer-based healthcare system I might have considered voting for him. At least he was on the right side of the nuclear power debate. I guess the point I'm getting at is this was just a bad election, with no good (and viable) options.
