Same as JHP ammo (in Texas) or breathing, for that matter.
:iagree:

If you want to know whether you're allowed to do something, ask yourself the question... "What crime would I be charged with if I did it?". If there isn't a law saying you can't do it, then (legally) you can...

Also, my CHL isn't a "Get out of the NICS check when buying a rifle license...", but I can use it for that.

But can you hit anything? Some years back I had the opportunity to shoot an early (open bolt) semi-auto MAC10 . . . at 25 yards, between the crude sights and the heavy bolt slamming forward, I couldn't keep all my rounds on the paper.
You know...

It's surprisingly accurate when I shoot two hand, with the telescoping stock extended and under my armpit. It has a fairly crude peep site. I can put short bursts in the 9/10 on silhouette targets all day long at about 25ft. Not bad for something that has a barrel about 4" long. Admittedly, you have to be really careful shooting it two handed. Your "steadying hand" goes under the box part of the body and the barrel only protrudes about 3/4" from the front. I have this (perhaps rational) fear of shooting off the tips of my fingers on my left hand. I like to use a fake barrel extension that screws on to the barrel. I have a silencer that screws on too (that was another $200 tax stamp, but came with the gun).

I carry a MAC10/9mm machine gun. 36rd mags, 1200 RPM! Even though its the size of a (very large, very heavy) pistol, it is not a handgun under Texas law...And if I switch the selector to semi, I can (barely) shoot it with one hand.

OK...OK...I don't really do this, but I could legally. And I do own one.
