Tell (ask) them at the gate. If it was like Muster Day, they will have you separate the weapon and the ammo and then proceed. I assume you are in the 36th ID by your avatar. If so, this may not apply as you will not be a civilian visitor and may be bound by other statutes and policies as a member of teh Nat Guard (i.e., no entry with weapon).

Again, IANAL, this is my understanding and experience.

I do know that Camp Mabry allows CHL carry. I believe KBCraig is correct that armories are state property (although Mabry has a federal reserve center (Navy) on site, fenced and well marked).

Again, IANAL.....

Remember if you are in the State or National Guard, you fall under TCMJ, Texas Code of Military Justice, when you are performing your duties under state orders (UCMJ for federal). TCMJ requires you to follow orders which may not (probably not) permit you to carry weapons, regardless of your status of CHL. IANAL, but I believe you likely could not be prosecuted under CHL statutes, but could be prosecuted under TCMJ.

TCMJ is Sect 432 of the Gov't Code
