I'd like to meet up if this is a regular event. Unfortunately, I can't make it this weekend. Fortunately that's because I'll be hunting (small game) and shooting with my teenage sons in east Texas!
I would recommend Eagle Peak. Yes, you have the one time $10 range card, but it is for life. They also own the Garland Public Shooting Range up in the DFW area as well and when I showed the folks at Eagle Peak my GPSR card from 1977/8 or so, they gave me my EP card for free!! I've been shooting there for a couple of years now.
Eagle peak is better for socializing, plus there's no time limit. I always feel rushed at Red's so that I don't rack up two hours ($28) in charges, not so at EP. Plus the folks at Red's always seem to me they don't like it when I bring my sons. I saw a person with less than steller muzzle discipline at Red's, reported what I saw (stepping back from the firing line and turning with the pistol following the turn) and they didn't do anything about it. The main advantage to Red's is they are 5 minutes from the house. But with the muzzle discipline incident, I haven't been back.
EP gave my kids the safety once over and since my kids behave and are very safety concious, I never have any problems at EP. They are strict on safety protocols, to my liking.
