Rest easy. The undocumented Muslim males had nothing to do with it. After all, undocumented people get on planes regularly.

How they can make a statement like that without knowing what happened to the plane, without a FDR recovery or even a reliable radar track is beyond me, but hey.

"Hopefully in a matter of days, we will be able to find something on the bottom that might confirm that this is the last resting place of MH370," Houston said at a news conference in Perth, the starting point for the search in the southern Indian Ocean.

"I'm now optimistic that we will find the aircraft, or what is left of the aircraft, in the not too distant future - but we haven't found it yet, because this is a very challenging business," he said.
Someone a week or so ago said, "It's impossible to find the needle in the haystack until you've found the haystack," or words to that effect. Sums it up pretty well.

No one escapes, uses their cell phone. None of your compatriots tells anyone where they are being kept. Deserted island somewhere? If it was Pakistan, or some place like that they would have been discovered already.

Time will tell.
If you were taken hostage by hijacking and flown somewhere in the back of a plane, could you tell your loved ones where you are? Provided your phone wasn't discovered and taken in the first place I mean.

Dunno how much that antenna weighs, or how much a drone can lift these days.
The FMS (computer) is tied in through ACARS, that's how they know the course change was entered in in the first place. Depending on the system a heading and altitude can be entered in in a few strokes, so no "codes" really needed. The ACARS is also how the satellite telemetry is sent and received and can also transmit voice messages. The "satellitey" bits (love that BTW) are too expansive and interdependent to be transferred to anything.

I am not a pilot, but I play one on computer.
