Jim,

Thanks for information, it's really not that big a deal......I guess we are just lucky to be able to take our guns when we fly.......

Got back from Fla. yesterday...At DFW I signed the form and put it in the Car Safe, TSA X-Rayed the luggage then asked me for the key to the box, looked at the contents and then we were on our way. When returning from Orland, I filled out the form, put it in the box, locked it, they X-Rayed it and that was it, no open and look, everyone was very nice. My only question is; Why do you have to put the form in the box with the gun? Opening the suitecase at the ticket counter seems to disrupt everyone, including people that are wondering what is going on, why can't you just show TSA the form, pocket it, they X-ray it and that's all? Orlando did question the ammo in the same box as the gun (in an ammo wallet) but, let it go.........

In everyone's opinion that is reading this thread, am I good to go with an ammo wallet? Going from DFW to Orlando,Fl.? The ammo wallet will be in the same luggage as the gun, but not in the same box. I have a "car safe" for the gun and clip.........

Thanks,

Chris,
Interesting......We are flying out of DFW next Sat. to Orlando. Three of us are taking our pistols with us, they will be locked in boxes in a locked suitcase..Now, we are taking ammo in "ammo wallets" which I am hoping will pass inspection...

To all,

I'm getting feedback from other boards that the ammo has to be in the orginial ammo box and full......is that true?? AND has to be in the same lock box as the gun? So my ammo wallet with (8) rounds either in the lock box or just in my suticase is no good??

Thanks,

Jim

Steve,
What I found is an "ammo wallet" for ~$4 at Sportsman's Warehouse, it's made of translucent plastic and can hold ~16 rounds of 9mm. It's flat and snaps together to hold the ammo in place and not touching each other..

All good information....We will be flying (American Airlines) from DFW to Orlando, Fl. next month. I want to take my Kel-Tec (to be pruchased this weekend at the Big Town Gun Show). I'll be using the car safe for the gun and have a small, made for ammo plastic case I would like to use for (7) rounds, now, if I put it (ammo) in the car safe, isth the gun and TSA doesn't like it, can I just have it in the same luggage or what? The luggage will be hard sided that uses a key lock.
Should I call American and ask them?
Thanks,
Jim

Steve,
Got my gun-safe yesterday, I really like it, well made.. Now, can I put some ammo in that case also? With the gun? I have a small plastic box that will hold 8 rounds. Is it legal to have the gun, clip, ammo in the same locked box? If they don't like it, will they take the ammo?

Thanks,

Jim

Steve,

When we fly for vacation, I will be taking the Kel-Tec and I figure that "safe" should have room for the gun and ammo..

Thanks for the information and pointers, I'll be getting one.....On a side note I went to the Frisco Gun Show (first one ever in Frisco)this past weekend at a new convention center there, real nice, until.......a vendor accidently discharged his firearm and shot a hole in their new carpet.......
Other than that a nice show.....
