Re: I think the forum is dying

I just realized that last week marks 4 years joining the forum for me. I had to smile and even laugh a few times at some of my very first posts. So completely clueless and half scared walking around with a fire arm strapped to my side. The amount of knowledge and information that I have gleaned from this forum is incalculable. I’ve met quite a few fellow members here, bought, sold and traded several items. Now I’m the LTC instructor doling out advice to students and gun owners. Pretty wild.

That's pretty much where I have been. The precious little free time I have these days isn't spent with firearms or shooting because it's become beyond frustrating.
I check the forum quite often. But don't post a lot as life is busy right now with many other things. New house and the move being the biggest time drain for me at the moment. I do enjoy reading the posts though.
But that’s the problem. Everyone enjoys reading the posts, but if nobody posts then there’s nothing to read.

If I wanted to know which Harley to buy, which was the best fishing boat, I would ask here first. When it comes to guns and rifles, there is probably no better resource in the world.

Yes world, you guys are that good.

I started here when I was looking to get my CHL. Back then it was difficult, confusing and time consuming. I needed help. Not so much now, I assume. Although there are pressures from outside Texas, the forum has seen the loosening of restrictions on guns in Texas over the years. A tribute to this forum, its leaders and their actions. Thank you.

In the coming month we will see a new law. I really never though would happen here in Texas.

I wish some of the legal eagles would begin going over the new law and advise us what has changed, what is the same, what is new, and what to watch out for. Putting it in Layman's terms would be so so helpful. We there some changes made to the LTC law as well, hopefully making it easier to stay out of trouble with licensed concealed or open carry.

I suspect there will be lots of non licensed newbies looking for advice on what they can actually do now. I suspect a lot of them will come here.

I hope we can be ready with answers. I know I will be ready with lots of questions.
:iagree: I can remember "Wally Walks" and all of the things one was supposed to do during them. I can also remember doing my first Wally Walk - which just happened to be during back to school time and the place was jammed with kids running around. I was just sure one of them was going to bump or get pushed into me and my gun.

Regarding Constitutional Carry, I wonder if, based on all the other things going on, it is going to be a non-event when it goes into effect. I remember, too, the ramp up toward OC and how many new signs were going up around this time before that law went into effect. I've been watching stores, expecting to see the usual suspects hanging signs. Perhaps I'm just not looking in the right places. Perhaps some people will start open carrying without a license and that will trigger some reaction. But I doubt it. And I think that speaks volumes about where we are as members of the forum and where the general public is. When a State as large as Texas can implement CC with hardly a murmur, at least so far, the focus of our society is someplace else. It, at least for me, is less about my interests in guns than about my attention being diverted. Like many others, I'm not doing as much shooting as I was and there hasn't been availability of the new guns that I want to buy so there isn't much to talk about personally. I keep hoping that the gun and ammo makers are going to be able to restore the supply soon but given the holes in the supply chain in just about every other industry, that is just a faint hope now.

I guess the next couple of weeks will tell. Constitutional Carry may not be on too many people's minds.
Spoke with a young man yesterday. He didn’t even know it passed. Thought they were still discussing it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MB ... UTF8&psc=1

I mounted it to the center console near my right leg. It lets me put a paddle holster at a convenient location. I covered the gun and holster with a black towel and they 'disappeared'.

I tried magnets but they weren't strong enough for the P14 .45
Is it a stand alone, I have the full shape shift system.

Re: I think the forum is dying

Glad that I'm not the only one then.. Like you guys, I do check everyday, and as an instructor, there is no better place to discuss issues especially with other instructors and everything for the most part is dedicated to TEXAS laws and events.... Just wished it would go back to a more pure gun site....

I think the forum is dying

It feels like the forum is dying a slow death. 5, maybe 10 posts a day. And out of those only 2 - 4 are gun or LTC rated. It’s mostly political now. I go to other forums now if I want to talk gun or self defense. It’s a shame too, I used to really like this site.
