Austin Instructor Range Qual

Are there any other Austin area instructors that would like to meet to shoot their renewal qualification?

Re: M&P 2.0 pistols (particularly the compact)

Why do you have to send the pistol back for different backstraps?

Seems like they should just mail you one each of the four sizes of the correct backstraps.

Re: M&P 2.0 pistols (particularly the compact)

I used a completely stock out of the box M&P9 Compact 2.0 for the Rangemaster Instructor Development course (successfully certified) and really like the pistol. Usually I carry a Les Baer full-size 1911, so appreciate a good trigger. The stock trigger was better than most plastic pistols. My onl...

Re: TX LTC Target

I asked DPS that same question. When DPS changed the target form the TX-PT target to the B-27 target, it wasn't just for the CHL class. It was also for the DPS Academy. Switching back to the B-27 brought the point-of-aim (POA) to the true center-of-mass (COM) thus reducing the likelihood of rounds ...

TX LTC Target

Below is the target that DPS used when I first took the test for my license in 2005. It is a much better target for teaching people about shot placement for defensive use instead of the current target. Does anyone have any ideas about how to encourage DPS to go back to this format? Does anyone know ...

Re: 9.22 Necessity

These situations have actually happened. Regardless of the law, if someone stops an active shooter and saves lives, and is not reckless, experience shows that public pressure makes it impossible to prosecute those people. This is not a guarantee, but the public appreciates someone who steps up for ...

Re: Rangemaster Tom Givens Instructor Course

Sounds like good training. A couple of questions: Rough idea of cost for class? Ammo alone will be in the hundreds of dollars for that many rounds. You talk about "certification." Is his certification recognized by anyone? For example, DPS requires a nationally recognized instructor certi...

Re: Women’s Holster Recommendations

She is consistent in taking it with her in specially designed purses, but is open to trying on body carry. So looking for advice, especially from women who really carry.

Rangemaster Tom Givens Instructor Course

I took this course recently and thought some might find this review of interest. Tom Givens was a LEO for 25 years, then ran a range plus training in Memphis for 18, and now does training only at ranges around the country. For those just wanting the bottom line, it is a very well thought out and exc...

Women’s Holster Recommendations

Would like some recommendations for IWB and OWB holsters for women for concealed carry.

Would especially like to hear from the ladies.

I am trying to help my wife go to on the body rather than purse with her Glock 19.

Janie, especially would like your thoughts and recommendations.
