sevon70 wrote:Finally moved from background under review to print pending. Does that mean for sure Ive been approved?
99.9% of the time yes. Although I have heard occasions where something along the way warranted a second look. Maybe rechecking fingerprints or the background check. However, based upon what I've read on this forum I do believe you're just a couple weeks away from either in the mail or plastic in hand.

My status updated to mailed. It was the first thing I checked on my phone this morning and it was a great morning when I saw it was mailed. Should hopefully have it before Christmas. :anamatedbanana
Received plastic in the mail today!
Congrats!!! And thank you for joining me as a new fledgling being an LTC holder. Wish more out there would follow the example.

My "print pending" changed to mailed on Wednesday and I just received my license on the mail only 3 days after!
Now I need to start getting used to the new added weight to my belt!
That's great!!! :anamatedbanana I'm glad to hear others like me are fresh off the wait list. I'm still getting used to the extra weight, but just today did I find a comfortable, yet still concealable position for my IWB holster. It took 2 days of playing around with it. Now I got to just get used to the every day carry.

Jeremyk10 wrote:Congrats to everyone who's getting updated to mailed status, I'm a new user here to this forum. I recently was updated to mailed status also so I should be receiving my license any day now.

My post is also to share a little bit of my journey to get to this point. In 2010 I was charged with felony criminal mischief and received deferred adjudication for one year and if I had believed everything I read online or what I was told from the misguided dps workers I wouldn't be here today posting this. I have researched government code for a few months now and have jumped through about every hoop you can imagine but it has all paid off. They tried to tell me I had to wait 10 years and at first I believed it, until I started digging. I found out that after 5 years you can apply for an order of nondisclosure to actually seal your record. Dps looks at deferred adjudication as a conviction but I read in government code that it does not apply to persons with a record that has been sealed. So I filed the order of non disclosure myself (lawyers charge about $1000 to fill out paperwork for you that is extremely simple, and then drive it to the county clerks office) after it was filed I went ahead and did my dps application and sent all of my paperwork and documents from the court to dps and low and behold......still I was denied. So after being denied I sent in a written request to a hearing to appeal the decision. After 28 days of no reply, I called them to ask why my court date had not yet be scheduled to which the lovely dps worker told my they had 60 days to schedule my court date. I then informed her that the government code says dps only has 30 days from the day they receive my written request to schedule the court date and that court date can not be more than a total of 60 days from the date they received my letter. So to clarify 30 days to schedule a day no more than 60 days out. She of course was very upset that I corrected her and started laughing at me. So I informed her her 30th day would have fallen on a Saturday so she only has one more day to have it scheduled, or they would be in violation of government code. So after she laughed I said have a great day my attorney will be in contact with you shortly (I don't have an attorney). Within 20 minutes my phone was ringing with the same girl and the attorney for dps who actually handles all the appeal cases. He very politely told me that the girl I spoke to had made a mistake and that after reviewing my order of nondisclosure I was cleared and approved for my license. He apologize for the run around and delay and the following day my status was updated to print pending.

Sorry for the lengthy post but I just hope somebody reads it and doesn't give up and getting their license, I have a wife and daughter and I was not going to give up on my license to help protect them. So in other words VICTORY!! :txflag: if anybody has any questions I will try to answer them as best as possible!
Don't apologize for the length of this post. It was well worth the read! If anything, the State of Texas should be proud to know that someone out there took due diligence to read the actual government code and follow it to the letter. That should be indicative of someone who will uphold the laws that govern the legal and safe handling of firearms.

I love success stories like these and want to wish you an early congratulations on receiving your license! Something I am sure you will hold very near to your heart after the ordeal you had to endure.

I got my plastic in the mail today! Took 2 business days after receiving the mailed status. Seems like most get it 2 to 3 days after. So I'd say you definitely are looking at an early Christmas present to yourself! :thumbs2:

Let's see how long does it take to be mailed! And arrive home....
It took 5 days for me and my friend to go from print pending to mailed. I'm curious to see how long it takes for yours.
Thank you! Not fast enough... like a kid waiting for Christmas! I'll keep you updated!
Quick update!
On Tuesday 12/13 my account cleared the background check and went into "Print Pending"
Now today 12/15 status changed to "Mailed"

Now I will have to control myself and try not to check the mailbox more than 5 times a day!

How long did it take for you to receive it from the "mailed" day?
The general consensus seems to be between 2 and 3 days for most. I am just waiting on the mail to be delivered today as this is day 2 for me! I'll update you on whether or not I received it.
:anamatedbanana 2 days for me from Mailed status to Plastic in Hand! :anamatedbanana

How long does it take to get this email? I assume the DPS needs to share the data with identogo
I have never received an email as I've always scheduled my fingerprints on my own using the service code: "119Q91".

If I were you, I wouldn't wait for them to send anything and get it done yourself so not to delay the process any longer than it has to be.
When I try to schedule myself I get the below error. I submitted my DPS application about 30 minutes ago

"Unable to determine eligibility.
Based on the information provided, we could not find a record for you in our system. Therefore, you are not eligible to enroll. Please contact your agency or organization to verify your information."
I would say give it a little more time before trying to schedule.

Make sure you are using the exact information you used on the application to schedule the appointment. If you still cannot get it done then I would suggest calling RDS and asking them what the issue is. You could always call the 800 number in the checklist email and attempt to schedule that way.

Re: "Waiting Room"

TK_421 wrote:Hi all, quick question that I don't think merits its own separate post.

Current status as of 12/10:
Citizenship: no documentation received, notice sent
Passport photo holder (out of state): under review
Background check: under review
LTC: print pending

I was born in Mexico but became a citizen over 10 years ago. Didn't even think to send in those documents with everything else when first applying so I sent in both my naturalization certificate and passport on Sunday 12/11. I haven't received the email saying those documents were received yet but when I sent in my LTC class forms I got that email almost immediately.

Also, I only scanned the front of the certificate and ID/photo pages of my passport. Is it really necessary to scan the backs of those as well?
I was reading through the Government Code for your answer(s).

Sec. 411.172. ELIGIBILITY. (a) A person is eligible for a license to carry a handgun if the person:
(1) is a legal resident of this state for the six-month period preceding the date of application under this subchapter or is otherwise eligible for a license under Section 411.173(a)

Sec. 411.174. APPLICATION. (a) An applicant for a license to carry a handgun must submit to the director's designee described by Section 411.176:
(4) proof of residency in this state;

(b) An applicant must provide on the application a statement of the applicant's:
(3) residence and business addresses for the preceding five years;

Based on that, I would say you have met the requirements. As far as taking a copy of the back of the passport. If it's the book type passport then I do not see why it would be necessary to send in a copy of the back of the photo page. If it's the card type, then I would have just to be on the safe side, but still I do not see that it would have been necessary.

You just might. If we go by business days then it was 3 days between update to print pending and update to mailed for me. I'm just in stakeout mode now stalking my mailbox. If I had a rifle and ghillie suit, I'd be hiding out in the bushes with my scope trained on the mailbox! "rlol"
