Re: Texting in theater sparks fatal shooting

03Lightningrocks,

You're still upset I see.

Once again, deep, cleansing breaths until all that rage fades away...

Or, if that doesn't work, exercise until fatigued, you'll definitely feel better.

03Lightningrocks,

Take a few deep, cleansing breaths...

Better?

I thought so.

(glad you won't be on the jury)

Re: Texting in theater sparks fatal shooting

Previously, in this thread I asked: "Does everyone KNOW the geezer was completely, positively in the wrong"

What part of this question defends a crazed shooter?

None of us was there - so everything offered is speculation, including my own...

Of course, I wouldn't defend the actions of a crazed shooter.

I would say if YOU weren't there all you have is an opinion.

Re: Texting in theater sparks fatal shooting

Does everyone KNOW the geezer was completely, positively in the wrong or could he sincerely have felt threatened by the younger guy - given the disparity of force i.e., the younger guy could potentially and easily beat up the old guy?

Sure, the old guy could've kept quiet and simply tolerated the rudeness of the texting guy and perhaps all would've ended peacefully. Since he didn't tolerate the rudeness, spoke up, insults exchanged and at some point the O.G. thought, uh-oh I'm about to be pounded to a pulp and I'm too old/frail to take a beating.

Perhaps, now he feels dreadful guilt for having shot texting man and would have taken the beating were it possible to re-live the experience.

None of us were there to know how it actually led up to the shooting.

All we can do is speculate after the fact.

Re: Texting in theater sparks fatal shooting

johncanfield,

Bingo!

All my movie watching is done at home too. I haven't 'gone' to the movies in years.

Come to think of it, last time was before cell phones, when people actually spoke to each other (during the movie) or put their feet on the back of your chair.

That annoyance is now almost quaint in comparison to the cell phone plague.

Re: Texting in theater sparks fatal shooting

I'm sure many here have been annoyed by the lack of common courtesy displayed by cell phone users.

As a cranky old guy myself, I'm one of em i.e., the jerk immediately in front of me talking loudly about very personal things while holding his other hand up to the bank teller signaling she should wait for him to finish his call before transacting business.

Everyone behind him is inconvenienced, but what does he care? Hey, he's on the phone. He's important. We plebeians can just darn well wait.

Or the monumental jerk in a crowded ELEVATOR loudly blathering away, unbelievable.

I don't think blasting these pustules is the right approach, but I can see why some may finally go off the deep end...

Now get off my lawn!
