Re: "Release the Kraken" ???

Politically, Trump losing is a Godsend for the GOP provided that it continues to hold the Senate. Trump's electoral performance was absolutely capped at 49%, and all the Dems had to do to win was run someone less despised than HRC. The Dems finally figured out they all they had to do was run AGAINST Trump. That strategy worked and now they have the White House, hold a shrinking majority in the House, still won't have the Senate, and are at a 6-3 disadvantage in the USSC.

There are now 4 enormous issues for the Dems.
1) Their one rallying point was Trump. Trump is now going to go be rich somewhere outside of politics, pausing only to make fun of Biden/Harris on Twitter and New Conservative Twitter. The unifying policy objective of the Democratic party is now one retired guy.

2) The loss of Trump as a rally point has left the two divisions with the Democratic party to turn on one another. The centrists don't want to move left to meet the socialists because they are not crazy.

3) A GOP Senate and USSC will force compromise which will greatly exacerbate problem 2. Pelosi will compromise to get things passed. AOC will just say crazier things on Twitter. This feeds into 4.

4) The US economy has not been healthy since 2000. We're in the 3rd debt bubble since the dot com bust, but the stagnation of real wages has left the apparent economic success in the form of capital gains for the relatively tiny group of people who own stock. The economic policies of Bush 2, Obama and Trump are indistinguishable, and all 3 contributed to the mess that we are in now. The situation is dangerously close to the late 1970s, which ended with a stagflationary recession. The solution to that problem is VERY high interest rates until inflation dies down (people got 12% mortgage rates in the early 1980s on top of 10% inflation). VERY few businesses can withstand those rates right now, and the inflation will prevent QE or any fall in interest rates until it abates. If the Trump administration oversaw that process, it would very likely lead to a Blue Wave and large scale socialist policies. If Biden and a Dem House oversee that collapse, the GOP has the opportunity to lay blame a the feet of the socialism that we already have (which is where the blame belongs).

I think that the Biden/Harris presidency will mirror Carter's. The GOP needs to start looking NOW for a strong an inclusive leader who speaks to people where they are. Trump's great strength was speaking to working people who just wanted to feel like they had a chance to get ahead. That's not unique to Donald J. Trump, whose manifold personal failings ultimately undid him. The GOP needs to look for a Ronald Reagan to run in 2024, and has an opportunity to repeat 1980 if they find him or her.
