Re: Multiple Intruders

Gimme a break... Shades of Jason Bourne or some such fiction, but yes, it's entertaining. Not at all. Once I realized how much trouble I was in or could have been in, I spent the majority of the rest of the day (the day I was interrogated) crying to my father over the phone to see what protection h...

Feds for sure. The KGB guys were just passing through.

Re: Armed and Anxious

That is a powerful choice for a handgun - and again not bad shooting for a newbie. I like the hammerless design - nothing to get caught - but only 5 shots? It's why my choice is the FNH 5.7, 21 rounds of Elite ammo and a green Viridian laser. Statistically - yes 93% chance used within race for black...

Re: Multiple Intruders

That's a pretty hair raising story. Note what I highlighted in red. I think you and I are on the same page.[/quote] Agreed! Raises hair on my neck to this day. About 6 months later, the agent in charge came for a follow up. About an hour long interview. At the end he gave me his business card. I sai...

Re: Multiple Intruders

Also nice to have multipule armed home defenders. Ideal would be a good trained dog or two in addition to AR /12GA. A good home alarm system is also a good. (Not ADT) Why do you say 'Not ADT'?. Can you share information as to why that is a bad company to use? [*][*] This... ADT is fine. The best fu...

Re: CA: Maybe already too late for them

California is a mess, but why did he fire into the air? Why not the ground--if a warning shot was necessary? Wordsworth didn't mean anything quite so literal, but the point is close enough that it comes to mind: The Arrow and the Song By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow I shot an arrow into the air, It f...

Armed and Anxious

A whole closet of worms in this report.

My take: nice gun choice, decent grouping but needs to get real about gun safety and gun storage.

I don't think either of her children are equipped to handle the choices surrounding lethal force.

Re: Thinking About Defense of Others

This is probably selfish but I feel I have a responsibility to my family first. In order for me to get involved, I'd have to have every advantage possible before merely protecting property. By every advantage, I mean good cover, good back up (someone willing and capable of helping) and my weapon of ...

Re: Best Practices for avoiding buying a stolen weapon

About 20 years ago, I decided an HK USP 45 was the thing for me. I went to a gun show in Kansas City and found a dealer (dealer table) with a nice selection of guns including the HK 45. He was willing to do a straight cash, no ID, no paperwork transaction. Ashamed to say, I did the deal. At first, I...

Re: Gun was pointed at us. Should we feel safe ?

Every gun should always be treated as if it was loaded. Under NO circumstance is it acceptable to point a gun at another person unless the purpose is self defense. What he did was very very stupid, ignorant and unlawful at that (lookup deadly conduct charge in Texas). Sec. 22.05. DEADLY CONDUCT. (a...

Re: Gun was pointed at us. Should we feel safe ?

I think if he felt bad about the incident he would apologize to us and pledge to take a gun safety class and to never do it again. Once again I really appreciate so many people taking the time to give their opinion and especially not one wise guy voting 'yes'. It goes well to show that we're reliabl...

I was one of the original Yahoo trolls. I had 50 alaises because Yahoo didn't require a phone number and text verification like they do now. This was the one I decided to keep.

SewTexas - I am unsure of his character more and more each day. He's in late 50's no alcohol or drug use. There are other things he's done that show lack of judgment or foresight including: He and his wife approached wild bears within 10-15 ft in order to get a photograph. (National park advises kee...

Re: Tough one - loose dog - their property

A follow up. A few months ago, we woke up to see a SWAT team had surrounded the neighbors house and advanced in. For the next few hours, the careless dog owner and home owner were cuffed on the front porch and then hauled away. The dog went too. We haven't seen them since. Looks like it was a solid ...
