With all due respect, it is much more likely than an individual is successful and educated if they ARE smart.
Barack Obama IS smart, which makes him dangerous. He knows how to pander to the most inexperienced and/or idealistic members of our society, and convince them that he is, in fact, going to improve their lives.
He has convinced them through sheer charisma and oratory ability that he is their candidate, because he will listen to them, and absolve them of their responsibility to themselves. If they fail, he will support them. If they are incapable, he will level the playing field so that they can have jobs they're not qualified for, and can't keep them.
This is the blunt version of his argument as I understand it: Vote for me, and you'll never have to take responsibility for doing something wrong. I will make absolutely certain that you will no longer be looked down on as criminal, or lazy, or ignorant, or poor. Those words will cease to exist in this country. Welfare will increase, as will healthcare. You will live longer, with less responsibilities. Vote for me, my friends, and you will never have to envy those with good jobs, intellect, and financial security.
and I will do all of this by making those who are successful give back WHAT THEY OWE YOU. Yes, they owe it to you, because without you, they would never have had any success!
It's brilliant. It plays on the most basic human emotions, makes the masses feel that he considers them important, and urges a backlash against the successful.
It is also a less dramatic and less violent version of another campaign, which used a different slogan than "Change we can believe in." Instead, the campaign's slogan was "Ein Reich, Ein Fuhrer, Ein Deutschland!"
NOTE: I am not comparing Barack Obama to Hitler. I am saying that his campaign echoes Hitlers in that it simultaneously appeals to the least priveleged and most priveleged members of society, sets up a bad guy (Special Interests/Old Politics), and whips the young and overconfident into a frenzy (Obama's collegiate base are the new Brownshirts- I've been called a racist so many times, simply for saying I'm not voting for Obama, that I've lost count.).
This is, in fact, a dangerous opponent, but one we should not marginalize. Hillary Clinton considered him no threat, and look how she wound up.
We cannot afford to do the same if we want our nation to be as great or greater tomorrow as it was today.
We cannot afford to do the same if we want to avoid paying for college for those who contribute least to society.
We cannot afford to do the same if we want to maintain our weapons, and most importantly:
We cannot afford to do the same if we want to maintain our sovereignty.
