I think it varies by applicant (clean record vs. a few arrests, etc.), but I think it's about 2 weeks.

Kevo wrote:So.. just a FYI for you guys.. I called DPS and asked if my fingerprints were submitted correctly (been 3 weeks, still pending) and she told me they have been approved, but apparently it's a "computer glitch" causing it not to update on their website. Pretty much, don't bank on the status updates too much.. lol
Thanks for letting us know this. Maybe others are further along in the process and the site just hasn't updated yet. That's what I'm hoping for.

Newbie here. Figured I should join a forum with others who are going through the same thing as me - checking for status updates everyday, and overall playing the waiting game.

Plastic In Hand - Maybe Christmas (haha) ??????
Just logged into the TX DPS website and my page looks to have updated now.

http://screencast.com/t/WOUMDw4C

I can now see all of the different steps and items needing to be completed (green, yellow, red, etc).

Couple of things:

Passport Photo Holder (Out of State Only) shows to be "Under Review" (yellow) for some reason (I have a valid TX DL). I guess it's old information and they haven't updated it again. It still shows the Proof of Classroom Training to be "Incomplete, notice sent to applicant." in red. I received that back on 6/18 and re-submitted a completed form on 6/20.

Background and LTC are under review (yellow) as well - as to be expected.

I'll give it a few more weeks and check back.

I started the 60 day clock after 6/6, but received a letter on 6/17 (two weeks time from submission) from DPS saying that my CHL form was incomplete.

The reasoning they gave in the letter was quoted:

"The application you submitted had an incomplete or missing Certificate of Training Form (CHL-100)."

Now mind you, this is the form that all 12 of us filled out in class and were guided through by our instructor. It's not a difficult form to fill out. There's not much that can go wrong, but I got an error from it.

The issue with the form is that my instructor used an Adobe PDF reader to Sign and Fill the text field in the range qualification section to mass produce these forms, but did not fill in and print his name or instructor number in the upper classroom portion. Even though his signature is exactly the same in both sections, they still denied it.

Per Texas DPS FAQ:
4. I sent in my completed application packet, but received a letter from the Department asking for more information on an arrest from several years ago. How does this affect the processing time?

The letter requesting more information or documents extends the timeline for issuing your license. DPS has an additional 180 days to complete the review process, if additional information is required from the application. To ensure your license is issued promptly, it is very important for you to provide the requested information for review. If the requested information is not received timely, the application will be terminated.

So, if I'm understanding this correctly, according to the TX DPS FAQ, since they requested more information, they now can slow roll my LTC and have 180 days to issue my license.

A little work in Adobe Reader to Sign and Fill on the CHL-100 form and I resubmitted to Texas DPS.
