A friend called it hate towards Islam, and it has nothing to do with their religion.Jusme wrote:A Muslim ban would include Indonesia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and several other Muslim countries. This has nothing to do with religion, it has to do with countries known to sponsor terrorism, and their inability to vett the people leaving their country to come here. There were no cries from the left when Obama or even Carter did the same thing. This is just a "Trump lash"

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President
From what I've read on Facebook (the best news source ever [sarcasm off]) people see it as racist because it's a "Muslim Ban." I really don't understand it either, even a friend of mine who happens to be Muslim is against being vetted. All people hear is that the media says it's bad so they assume it must be bad. I would feel much safer if people were checked out before they just came here as refugees. I am all for helping out others when we can, I am sure others here are as well, but you have to come the right way. There is a reason why people risk life and limb to get to the US, but do so legally and by being vetted.Mxrdad wrote:I agree with both of you. And I think its a safe bet that a career politician, that has never been in the business world, has no clue how to take him. Politicians are so used to taking their time, where the majority of business owners don't have that luxury and don't want to wait around. They want, and expect results. The ones opposing him may want to buckle up for this ride.
For the life of me, I do not understand why any American doesn't want to have a good solid vetting process. Why not give him a chance? He just might get a very good system in place that will cut down on the wait time in the future. Wouldn't that be a win-win?

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President
President Trump is already sticking to his campaign promises. Look at the executive orders he has already signed. Look at all the people he has met with even before his inauguration. I am very excited for our country at the direction it seems to be going in. President Trump's entire campaign has been for the people. I believe he will turn around the republican party for generations to come. I think he could bridge the gap for minorities and remove them from democratic imprisonment.Jusme wrote:Dale, don't buy in to what the media says about what Trump is placing value on. They are doing everything to goad, criticize, and ridicule his every word. He has responded to some of them, which has given them more ammunition. They hate the fact that he is using social media to communicate directly with the American people, and not going through them.dale blanker wrote:Things are happening very fast in the oval office. The president seems to still be in campaign mode and concerned about things like inauguration day crowd size and popular vote so it doesn't seem like he'd be able to give much thought to what's happening. Wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall to see how things are being developed and who is really doing it?
Instead look at the results. He has hit the ground running, and begun a process, that will have positive effects across the country, and around the world. He has had conversations with world leaders, and has planned meetings with several of them. The orders he signed, especially regarding the pipeline, were just reinforcements of agreements that BHO had reneged on. The only thing slowing him down, is the Congressional Committee, delaying the confirmation of his Cabinet members. Once they are in place, the speed at which things get done will increase exponentially. JMHO
