I feel you: I am also a software developer. I was thinking the same thing when I was on hold forever on the phone. The person on the other end clearly checks something on their computer to give you the status. Clearly they should just provide the same information when logging in to check status yourself. They'd have significantly less calls, meaning the people who have to be on the phone 24/7 could help with applications, or hell, just re-assign them to updating people's status online so they don't have to call...

I have the tiniest suspicion they are telling everyone who calls in recently that their application has been approved, then work on it with priority to get it done.

Two of us both called this morning and were told almost the exact same line, verbatim. "As far as your application, it looks like our technicians selected it for issue as of April 29, which is today, so you should expect it within 7-10 business days from today." The very same wording.

I will update this post with the last few unknown dates when they happen. Our timelines:
