All of the parties were kept at the scene for many hours. The first video reports from the scene show the pastor but not the lawyer. That report was aired more than four hours after the incident. The lawyer is not mentioned until a few hours later. I wouldn't call that fast. It seems perfectly reasonable to me for someone to call their pastor for guidance and it seems pretty reasonable for that pastor to go to the scene when called. The lawyer, to me, also makes sense. Aren't we always saying on here that one of your first calls should be to your lawyer? Why are people finding it odd that she did that?BigGuy wrote:Not taking a stance either way. I simply don't know enough. But I've got a couple of questions.
Was her lawyer and pastor there at the scene? If so, how did they get there so fast?

Re: Road Rage Shooting in Houston
I agree, and contrary to what most of the news reports would have you believe, the fact that she has a CHL is irrelevant in this case. I did hear one of the reporters mention that, but most of them have always made sure to mention that she has a CHL.tomtexan wrote:I think this comes into play if one is no billed.AJHutton wrote: Also, for you knowledgeable types here, barstoolguru has mentioned that the family ought to retain an attorney, presumably in a wrongful death lawsuit. If the grand jury does not file charges, doesn't a CHL status provide a pretty strong defense against such a suit? Assuming the grand jury finds in the CHL's favor, won't such a wrongful death lawsuit be dismissed as soon as the CHL-holder's attorney files that motion?CPRC § 83.001. CIVIL IMMUNITY. A defendant who uses force or deadly force that is justified under Chapter 9, Penal Code, is immune from civil liability for personal injury or death that results from the defendant's use of force or deadly force, as applicable.

Why would you find it funny that her lawyer and pastor are doing all the talking? Isn't that part of what they are supposed to do? Wouldn't you call your lawyer and possibly a trusted friend? The lawyer doesn't appear to show up until a bit later in the day. They were at the scene for many hours.

I am pretty sure she did not shoot through the window. It didn't look like it and someone on the Fox video (lawyer? pastor?) said he pounded on her window and then opened her door which was when she shot him. The deceased is caucasian.

That Fox report also mentioned that the investigators at the scene reviewed video before deciding to send her home. I wonder how long it will be before the video makes it to YouTube.
