And of course you have the Federal license for that. Right?
I think you meant to say "tax stamp". There is no federal license for a suppressor.

Skydog wrote:How do I post a picture?[/img]
First, the picture has to already exist online somewhere. Many people either use the storage space provided by their ISP, or they use a free account like Flickr.

Second, copy the URL of that picture, come here and click the "Img" button, past the URL, and click the "Img" button again.

When you finish, it will look like this:

Code: Select all

Your picture will show up when people read the forum.

That "letter opener" is indeed multi-use: it's both an illegal knife (carrying a "dagger" is UCW per PC 46.02), and a prohibited weapon (carrying "knuckles" is a Class A misdemeanor per PC 46.05).

There is some argument about whether having a CHL voids the UCW charge for an "illegal knife" (defined in PC 46.01(6)), but a CHL definitely does not give you a pass on PC 46.05, "Prohibited Weapons".

Just FYI.

If there's not a round in the chamber, it's not loaded.

Liberty wrote:I read somewhere from someone I respect that a CHL allows you to have some of the illegal weapons. The same section of the penal code that makes an exemption to carry a concealed gun, also exempts us from from the illegal weapons.
A literal reading of the Code does imply that. But others argue that no matter what the Code says, the implied intent of the CHL is to exempt carrying a concealed handgun, and it would be unwise to push the issue.

I'm neutral on it. I know what the law says, but since there is no case law on the matter, I would suggest that you shouldn't be eager to carry a club or illegal knife and claim exemption by having a CHL.

ForbidInjustice wrote:Nope, not according to the Texas Penal Code, anyway.. a knife with a blade over 5½ inches is illegal.

Neither of those two knifes has a double edge, although I do have a folding dagger that does.
PC 46.01(6) "Illegal knife" means a:
(A) knife with a blade over five and one-half inches;
(B) hand instrument designed to cut or stab another by being thrown;
(C) dagger, including but not limited to a dirk, stilletto, and poniard;
(D) bowie knife;
(E) sword; or
(F) spear.

The trouble is that they don't define dagger, dirk, stilletto, poniard, or bowie knife. Someone wanting to make trouble for you could consider that Fairbairn to be a dagger, even with a false edge.
