Re: deranged shooter in workplace DHS wisdom

Well, I trried to post the brochure following the advice. It would have worked I think except that this site advised that the file is too large. Once I got to looking at the brochure, I realized it's about 20 pages long. Most of that is artwork and pictures. Only about 1-2 pages is verbiage.

That's our tax dollars at work I guess, 1-2 pages of meat and 18 pages of colorful filler. Kinda like our govwrnment huh?

I suppose there is a way to edit out the fluff but I'm getting way beyond my level of competance here. I would be glad to email this brocure to anyone interested. Maybe someone might be inclined to edit the fluff out and publish the wording on this site.

I know I've been sarcastic, but there is some good advice here, such as "call 911" and turn off your cell phone".
Also, warning signs of a troubled employee. Gee, I think I've had some of these signs myself. I better investigate myself.

Let me know and I'll email it to you.

deranged shooter in workplace DHS wisdom

I wish I knew kew how to cut and paste this pds file DHS document titled "Active Shooter-How To Respond".

I received it via email from our HR director, an NRA member who had some derisive comments about it.

It makes me feel so much better; I know you would feel better too if you read it. It deals with how to respond to a shooter in the workplace.

Among the pearls of wisdom fom the professionals at DHS :

Hide.

Run away.

Lock your door.

If none of the above are effective, you can escalate your response by:

Throwing things at the shooter.

Yelling at the shooter.

Personally, I think they left out:

Talk about his mama and make him cry.

Have a "dialog" with him and make him your friend.

This DHS brochure makes me feel so much better.

If you think I'm joking, I'm not. I'll try to figure out how to do a cut and paste on it. I can't seem to get the normal C & P to work.
