Waiting for a car to pull put in the parking lot with my turn signal on. Car whips into the spot ahead of me.

I asked the gentleman in his mid 40s (old enough to know better) "Sir did you not see me waiting there with my turn signal on?"

His response? "Yes I did, so?"

Was I irritated? Oh yea.
Did I for a second want to shoot him? Nope
Did I want to ram his pretty little mustang? Nah, but she definitely deserves a better owner.

Grrr. I may still leave a note letting him know what I think of his arrogant behavior if his car is still there after class....

If he has a university parking sticker, there is a number on it that you can turn in as a reckless driver, or any other undesirable action, you can make up....um, I mean report him for.

Re: Carrying on Campus

AndyC wrote:I carried on the UTD campus yesterday too - no issues.

The section about sole faculty offices can be found in UTD's Campus Carry FAQ: http://www.utdallas.edu/campuscarry/faqs/
Is campus carry allowed in University offices?

Solely occupied offices can be designated as exclusion zones, prohibiting the concealed carry of a handgun in that space. If occupants choose to exercise this discretion, they must provide oral notice that concealed carry is prohibited in the office. Oral notice is the only legally effective way to provide notice about the prohibition. Written notice or the use of signage does not satisfy notification requirements.

What does “oral notice” mean?

The faculty/staff occupant of an individual office should say to each person entering the office, either:

“Pursuant to Section 30.06, Penal Code (trespass by license holder with a concealed handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code (handgun licensing law), may not enter this property with a concealed handgun,” or
“The carrying of a concealed handgun is prohibited in this office.”

How frequently must “oral notice” be given?

A faculty/staff occupant of an individual office that chooses to designate the office as an exclusion zone is responsible for ensuring that all persons who enter the office receive oral notification that the carrying of concealed handguns is prohibited in that office. The faculty/staff occupant should determine how frequently oral notice must be given in order to ensure that all persons have received it. Faculty should be mindful that announcements made in class at the beginning of a semester may not effectively reach all students due to absences or add/drops. To err on the side of caution, it is recommended that oral notice be provided each time a person enters the office.
I imagine that's going to become rather tiring for those folks
:iagree:

Yeah by the time they get through that speech, They won't have time to see any students in their office. I hope that they enforce that rule, and have students file complaints, if the rule is not followed to the letter. The professor that Texas Tornado posted about, obviously decided that he didn't have to follow that rule.

Re: Carrying on Campus

TexasTornado wrote:Yesterday was my first day of actual classes carrying on campus and it so nice to not have to choose between my education and my second amendment rights for a change.

None of my professors tried to ban weapons from the classroom; although, I do expect one of my class buildings will be posted at a later date. The biggest mention I had was one professor who said weapons weren't allowed in his office. As his class is the one I'm dropping it was a non issue for me personally, but I am eager to see the AG take this power from professors based on some of the comments made during the UT classroom lawsuit.

Overall it was a good experience.

I would report the professors comments anyway, even if you aren't directly affected, someone else may be. Also if he thinks he has the authority to arbitrarily ban guns, it may lead others to try the same thing. If his office is not listed by the University as a prohibited area, I would file a complaint with the University President.
