Re: Workplace Violence Policy

The whole issue of how to handle an active shooter scenario is multi-faceted, and most arguments I hear today only consider the tactical aspect. Most tactical shooting instructors teach that the most appropriate response to armed violence in your vicinity is avoidance (ie, run or hide). No sane pers...

Re: ID required with CHL/LTC for handgun purchases?

Particularly if you bought with a credit/debit card or a check, the DL number is used to help identify you for credit check purposes. The LTC ID card is technically sufficient both to legally identify you and to waive the BGC requirement, but it can't be used to check your credit or verify your chec...

Re: Convince me that constitutional carry is a good thing

I think the rationale for allowing Constitutional Carry is fundamentally a philosophical one about civil rights, which you already understand; however, that being said, it does not look like any states that have Constitutional Carry have had any problems with it, some over a period of many years, so...

Re: 10 Secrets Cops Know That Most People Don't

My wife reports an alarming tendency on my part to start telling her to, "Do it now!" whenever we are having coffee and donuts. I think it's the donuts that cause it.

Re: Secret Service Report - spotting a weapon

Back when Obama was campaigning, the Obama HQ (1 of the 2 in town) was downstairs in my office building. When I left work one afternoon, the building lobby was crammed with folks (judging by their car licenses outside, they were mostly from IL, WI, and MN) through whom I had to weave my way to get o...

Re: Military discharge for personality disorder

No. I can see no reason why it would impair your ability to get a TX Carry License. I am quite sure there are currently people with TX CHL licenses who have personality disorders (I know a couple myself), so that isn't enough, in itself, to disqualify you.

Re: Toddlers shooting people once a week in the US now.

I am always skeptical of liberal UK reportage on any topic related to the USA and guns - those folks still think Piers Morgan was a reasonable and reliable reporter! Last statistics I saw on the topic of toddlers killing toddlers (which were John Lott's data from 2010, I think) indicated that less t...

Re: Impact of 30.06 to businesses

Simply boycotting a business may not make much impact by itself; however, I have found that by talking to the managers of the business that posts a 30.06 or 30.07 sign, you can have more impact. I discussed with the local manager of a Costco (which has a corporate "no guns" rule nationwide...
