Re: Inside waistband holster ?
+1 on the Alien Gear. I received my Cloak Tuck 3.0 about two weeks ago for my H&K VP9 and have been very pleased. I carry at the 3:00 position with a slight forward cant and it works very well. I ordered two additional shells for my Glock 22 and 4" 1911 as well as their OWB holster and I re...

Re: Texas Department of Family and Protective Services
In many ways, I see a parallel with TABC. I agree. FPS rules should not apply to licensed carry. I had the same question when Adventure Kids Playcare in Cedar Park posted 06/07 signs. When I e-mailed them about it they referred me to the FPS regulation governing their license. Of course, my big que...

Re: College Kids - Desire to carry
I wish there was some provision for an 18 year old civilian to get a CHL. I don't understand why not being in the military should prevent somebody who is otherwise considered an adult from having the most effective means to protect themselves. I have two daughters that will be on their own one day (...

Re: Guns at home with a young family
I started taking my daughters shooting when they were 3 years old. They would should a Red Ryder BB gun but still had to wear eye and ear protection just to get them used to the concept. My wife and I would take turns standing back while the other would shoot so they would get used to seeing and bei...

9mm most of the time (H&K VP9)
.40 for deeper concealment (Kahr MK40) (I.e. When I need to wear a t-shirt and my 5.11 pants)
.380 (Ruger LCP) for times when I'm dressed business casual and need to do pocket carry

Re: HEB 30.07 signs incorrect.
I was at the HEB Plus in Leander a couple of days ago and I didn't see a 30.07 sign at either set of doors. After checking out I even went back to the entrance doors to look again and didn't see anything. All I saw were the normal warnings about unlicensed possession, etc. Those signs are either the...

Re: walmart asking for chl
This is a situation where being polite to the Wal-Mart staff will go a long, long way in making them feel comfortable with open carry. If you're OCing in their store and they ask to see it, show them your CHL and all the while be cheerful, polite, and act like its the most normal thing in the world...

Re: HEB, Applebee's, Half Price Books, 06, 07...... is it worth it?
Perhaps the real issue is do you want to go into a gun free zone? You carry to keep you and yours safe. The gun in the glove box does not keep you and yours safe. The Luby's massacre could have just as easily been the Applebee's massacre. If we have to give up going to some stores so be it. If you ...

Re: Carrying in a Preschool?
I've had this same question. The problem is not the CHL/LTC statues but that the Texas Administrative Code that covers child care facilities. Section 746.3707(b) states that firearms are "prohibited on the premises of the child-care center, unless the child-care center is also your residence&qu...

Re: "Advanced" LTC legislation opinions
Interesting responses so far. A question from one of my follow-ups... Do you think businesses that post 30.06/07 signs don't trust that LTC holders are adequately trained and qualified (meaning, they don't start shaking in their boots when a LEO walks in) or are they just trying to make a political ...

Re: "Advanced" LTC legislation opinions
If I'm reading that correctly, HB 308 (46.15(5)(a)(5) would essentially invalidate 30.06 signs. Is that correct?Pawpaw wrote: Instead, in the 2017 legislative session, look for a bill similar to last session's HB 308.
I was not aware of that bill.

Re: "Advanced" LTC legislation opinions
Do you really want to break down LTC as superior and inferior holders? Are all LEO of equal skill? I am for expansion of our ability to enter facilities but I don't support a 2 standard class of LTC. I never did understand the red 51% alcohol sign. I don't drink, why should I not be able to carry? ...

Re: "Advanced" LTC legislation opinions
actually LTC you only qualify once. That being said I don't think how well you shoot is the issue when it comes to OC Ahhh, I thought re-qualification was required until the third renewal. Good to know. In my original post, I specifically mentioned concealed and excluded open carry because I realiz...

Re: "Advanced" LTC legislation opinions
no because LEO's have the same score requirements we do Perhaps the numerical score requirements are the same but the research I've done indicates the overall standards are significantly higher than the LTC shooting test. For instance, I have found departmental standards that require drawing from a...

"Advanced" LTC legislation opinions
As it stands, law enforcement officers are allowed to carry firearms into places that LTC holders are not. Many people say this is because these officers are better trained than LTC holders. To eliminate that argument, would you support legislation for an "advanced" license that allows con...
