This thread, which was locked, has some new information. The former DEA agent's original lawsuit was rejected so he has filed an appeal. The shooting occurred in 2004.

I often wondered if his reaction or non-reaction to the pain was partly because he was an ex-pro football player. Those guys get hit and knocked down and get right back up and go on playing.

The DEA agent, Lee Paige, filed as a pro se plaintiff. His complaint was very poorly written. Since then, he has retained an attorney, but I haven't heard anything about the progress of his lawsuit.
