The issue with the Korean M1s is that they were sold to South Korea, not loaned like those currently sold by the CMP. As it is the CMP is only set up to sell US owned rifles transferred to them. Being South Korean government property they would have to be imported by a private firm into the US. This is something that Trump could allow via removal of the import ban, but the CMP would not have a part in it.AF-Odin wrote:IIRC, believe there to be a rather large supply of M-1 Garands and M-1 Carbines still in South Korea that were not allowed to come home due to the stance of the current (but not for too much longer) administration.
