I was the same age. Lived in South Central Kansas and was home finishing up my lunch when the network interrupted the noontime shows for a special announcement. It was that The President had been shot in Dallas, TX.
Went back to school and the vice principal came in and told our teacher that The President was dead. I too was glued to the B&W TV for days afterwards. Was a terrible day that I will always remember.
These days when the network in interrupted I break out in a cold sweat and get goose pimples on my arms. I guess you could call it PTSD.
