I wonder if the San Bernardino shooters wife was vetted in the same way that the Syrian refugees will be vetted ?

Muslims suffer these same schisms and are often willing to kill each other when disagreement arises.
Just being a Muslim may not comport with a terrorist if the Muslim isn't his kind of Muslim...
Just being Muslim isn't necessarily a get out of jail free situation when confronted by a radical Muslim...You have to be the "right kind of Muslim" or bam, you're dead too.
Working in the oil & gas field, and traveling extensively around the world (about 25-30 international trips a year to some wonderful garden spots such as Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Oman, Indonesia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nigeria, etc), I have more than my share of interactions with all sorts of folks - many of them Muslim (plus a lot of Buddhists, Jews, and even a Christian or two ). While I keep my list of 'friends' down to only a handful of people, I'm very friendly with many of these folks. I've had dinner in the homes of many Muslim friends around the world, and I've found them to be friendly, open, and welcoming. For those with whom I've had the pleasure of discussing personal things such as culture, religion, etc., I've found that their interpretations of their own religion are as varied as mine (Roman Catholic) is from my neighbor's (Southern Baptist).
But to say they'll all bro-hug with the terrorist and kill some bacon eating infidels is akin to saying that I'll bro hug with the Westboro Baptist Church folks and sing praises about dead soldiers. Or perhaps, I'll bro-hug with a KKK member while we protest the black family that had the audacity to move into our neighborhood. Ain't gonna happen - no way, no how - and to imply that is insulting.
I live in a pretty simple frame of mind. Many things are good, and some are bad. But to get grouped into the bad grouping, you've got to do more than fit into a simple stereotype.
I don't freak out when someone has a confederate flag flying, but if they have white supremacist tattoos on their neck and a couple of teardrop tats below their eye, I might shift to condition orange.
I don't get nervous when the guy on the plane next to me unrolls his prayer rug to do his salah prayers in the galley area, but if I notice a neighbor that I've known for 8 years suddenly withdrawal from pleasant conversations, change from wearing daily business attire to wearing a dishadasha and kufi all the time, suddenly grows his beard way out, and starts getting lots of FAMs visiting at all hours wearing same, all after he took a 2-month trip to the Middle East, perhaps I'd start wondering if something was going on.
Beiruty and/or Abraham, I'd welcome the opportunity any time to sit with you and talk guns, religion, or any other topic. I love a good discourse, and can learn a lot from discussions like that. I have the feeling we'd both enjoy it, and both come out more informed, and/or entertained by it. And if we were together and confronted violently by either the jihadist or the white supremacist who wanted to do us harm, I'm certain that you and I would engage them together, side-by-side.
But anyone on here who assumes that just because you're a Muslim that you'll turn your back on me and bro hug your your Muslim brother... Well, let's just say I'd be as insulted as you would by that remark. I have no need for that kind of negative influence in my life.
When the terrorist attack in France happened the terrorist let people go that could recite the Koran. That's a bro hug. If you couldn't recite it you died. That's the bacon eating infidel part.

On the other side of the coin, if a White supremacist came up to us I'd have a good chance of surviving. I'm a big guy with a shaved head and a goatee.
In either scenario we both have the right to fight and hate the one that wants to kill us.
